We dropped the cable companies phone around 2014/15. We really didn’t need a landline, but $43 per year is cheap. Our cell phones only work in the U.S, but very expensive if used elsewhere outside the states. The magic jack app allows us to back to the U.S when we are traveling abroad. I’ve been using MJ since 2006 and it’s a cheap solution to ATT, etc other phone services for a home landline. Subscribing to MJ for two 2-3 years can save more but the only issue is when you try to replace your device with a newer model MJ will not move your existing service to the new one unless your device goes bad. Not sure if this is the case still but years ago they will not move your 2-3 year service to a newly upgraded device (FYI). otherwise, it is a cheap solution for overseas service with local area code to the US. I just pay yearly like $40+ but with 2-3 year subs will be cheaper. I use my MJ as my home phone # in the US.
