What Is The Astrological Ashtakavarga Table?

Ashtakvarga is a Vedic astrology tool that divides a horoscope chart into eight distinct sections, each associated with a particular planet. The numerical values of these sections are used to evaluate the strength and auspiciousness of the planets. In Sarvashtakavarga, any house receiving less than 25 points is considered weak, while houses receiving more than 25 points are considered medium strength. Houses receiving more than 28 points are considered very strong.

In Bhinna Ashtakavarga, if a house gets 8 points, it is considered very strong. This system can predict an individual’s life and longevity based on planetary positions and energies. It is a scoring system of your birth chart based on eight bodies and 12 houses, which can predict career, money, life purpose, and marriage prospects.

Ashtakvarga is a proprietary predictive system grounded on eight divisions and influential planets. The term “Ashta” denotes “eight”, and “Varga” signifies “division” in Sanskrit, symbolizing the eight divisions. By examining the points assigned to planets in different houses, astrologers can accurately predict strengths, vulnerabilities, and growth periods.

Ashtakavarga is a unique method in Vedic astrology to know how strong your horoscope is. In the horoscope, there are twelve houses, each with some aspects that are often not apparent enough. According to Brihatparasara Horashastra, Ashtakavarga is a Vedic astrology technique that measures a planet’s strength and influence based on its placement from other planets and the ascendant.

The Ashtakvarga table has several rows and columns, with the top row representing the Signs from 1-Aries to 12-Pisces and the first right column representing the Ascendant. It is an elaborated point system that provides a clear picture of the strengths of the planets and houses in your horoscope.

What is the Ashtakavarga score?

Which is the strongest house in astrology?

The angular houses in the chart are the most powerful, while succedent houses, less powerful but more powerful than the cadent houses, have a quality similar to the angular houses. The second house, which succeeds the first house of the body and personality, signifies the things that belong to the person, while the eighth house, following the seventh house of the partner or spouse, represents the belongings of the other person. Succedent houses have a stable, unchanging, fixed quality, deriving from their central position in each quadrant of the chart.

While some houses have malefic or weak connotations, they are productive houses where matters normally take root and flourish, such as possessions or children. The second house signifies the possessions of the person or event for which the chart was cast, and this meaning has persisted unchanged for several thousand years. Modern astrologers may perceive a correspondence between the second house and the sign Taurus, but traditional astrologers did not. Hellenistic astrologers considered the second house the “Gate of Hades”, leading to the houses beneath the horizon of the chart.

How to check Ashtakavarga table?

The Ashtakavarga score, which indicates the degree of success or failure, can be classified into three categories: below average, between 28 and 30, and above 30. A score below 30 indicates a lack of proficiency, a score between 28 and 30 indicates a neutral outcome, and a score above 30 indicates a favorable result.

How Ashtakavarga is used in prediction?

The concept of Ashtakvarga delineates the strength of each planet in relation to each rashi and house. Houses with four or more points demonstrate increasing effectiveness, whereas malefic houses may have fewer points, potentially reducing their capacity to inflict evil.

How does Ashtakavarga predict marriage?

Ashtakavarga is a method used to predict marriages based on the 3rd, 7th, and 11th houses. The 5th and 9th houses can also influence marriage, as they are associated with progeny and tradition. Venus and Mercury can influence the 5th house, indicating good communication and love. However, a high 7th house score doesn’t guarantee a good marriage. Other factors like Maha-dashas, Antar-dashas, and functional benefic or malefic planets should also be considered. Many couples marry during their Sadesati period, causing a significant karmic process with their spouse and their family. For personalized marriage analysis, consult an Astrologer.

How accurate is the Ashtakavarga chart?

Ashtakavarga is a system that provides a comprehensive view of how planetary energies interact with an individual’s life. It considers the cumulative influence of all planets on each house, providing a more holistic perspective. This approach allows astrologers to pinpoint periods of strength, vulnerability, and growth with remarkable accuracy. One core component of Ashtakavarga is the “p” which breaks down the contributions of each planet to different houses.

By examining individual scores, astrologers can discern areas where each planet exerts its most beneficial or challenging influence. The cumulative score helps astrologers determine the general strength of each house, guiding predictions and remedial measures more precisely. Ashtakavarga’s utility extends beyond mere prediction, serving as a diagnostic tool to identify imbalances and suggest remedies.

If a house has a low score, astrologers may recommend specific rituals, gemstones, or mantras to mitigate adverse effects and enhance positive outcomes. This proactive approach empowers individuals to navigate life’s ups and downs with greater confidence and resilience.

  • There will hardly be anyone in this world to have 28 or more than 28 points in each house. I have seen rich and famous people having more than 40 points in their 11th house of gains which leaves their other houses with a miserable 13 or 14 points. Ashtakavarga system is designed in such a way that some houses will be stronger with more than 30 points leaving the other houses with less than 28 as the final total is fixed at 337, which means no one can be happy and satisfied in all the material aspects of life. Hence nothing to worry much. I feel the key is not to add any more bad karma out of desperation to the already weak and struggling houses and not to take the stronger houses with complacency and not to add ego and pride to those strong houses !!!

  • Hmm, jagannath hora is also good, made by PVR Narsimha Rao. when I started looking at astrology in Dec 2022 just 1 week before me Rahu Mahadasha started. I only want to look at what negative is there in my charts. Got sad then depressed then normal then repeat. After 8 months of Rahu Mahadasha, my mind started to open up about the world, and the things I knew but was not prepared to take a stand. My psyche started telling me about the world more and after judging the world relations and putting my distance. I slowly realized how planets keep you unachieved in the world so that we can develop a focused, meditative, unyielding mind. Then I thought why, other people don’t need to put that effort. Again I realized that if other people get arrogant then they will also share the same fate as you. That’s why, people with some problem come to the astrology in their search, people who are already in the flow of the world, mind busy, they have no reason to look anywhere else. They are fine without it. If someone wants to grow further then they still search for it.

  • Sir KRS i keep following your divine readings. its a very excellent analysis. im pisces born feb 27, 1968. my eldest is july 5, 1986 cancer, my 2nd is oct. 3, 1987, Libra, my youngest is march 27, 1989 aries. All your readings are wonderful Sir. Only God can repay all the knowledge and very big help that you are giving to all of us in this world. God, his Angels and the divine are always with your whole family. WHY?? BECAUSE YOU ARE CHOSEN SIR TO BE OUR ONE MESSENGER. I love your website. I know im bless if you do the analysis about pisces again about ashtagavarga and some other analysis. and after that….you will shake your head…and ask yourself…why im stupid. GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR WHOLE HAPPY FAMILY.

  • Very nice explanations about the subject. Frog in Sanskrit is called ‘Mandhuk’ or ‘Manduk’ (Medok) is a field frog an ecology balancing creature found mainly in agricultural field. When a spices of those frog jumps into an openwell in the field and grows up in the well is called ‘cupamanduk’, in such a condition it can observe only the changing sky and grossly disconnected from the worldly affairs but the ‘cupamanduk’ thinks the world is that only, which it can observe! It does not know that it does not know! A fan of your’s!

  • Can you kindly explain warren buffets astakavarga 10 th house -26 11 th house 32 12 th house 21 Lagna 1 has 26 8 th house has 28 6 th house has 37 2nd house has 22 So many thing doesnt hold true, 6 th house has highest, he doesnt have health problem, 6th house has more points than lagna 8th house has more points than lagna he is long lived 2nd house of wealth is 22 weakest bt he is richest Why is this?

  • sir, there are exceptions to calculation of arudha lagna- if your ascendant lord is placed in 4th house, arudha beomes 4th house, if lagna lord is in ascendant, arudha becomes 10th house and if ascendant is placed in 7th house, arudha doesnt become lagna, instead its 10th from 7th house i.e, 4th house again. in all other houses if lagna lord is placed, then if you have to count those many houses from that place as the lagna lord is placed away from asc.

  • very cool article! I have a lot of points in 9th house and i have the best relationship with my father! I have very few points in both second and 11th house but i still love the article, and my arudha lagna and indu lagna is on my side You are making me procrastinate all my work! Maybe thats why i wont make any money 😉

  • I’m agree with that low Ashtakavarga points 2nd house and 12th house decide if somebody will be rich or save less. My brother has less points in 2nd house than 12th house. He is definetly not poor and even not spends more than he earns . Maybe because his Navamsa Ashtakavarga points there is much better. Your articles helping a lot.

  • Thank you very much Shri Kapiel for the wonderful service and clear explanations. They are very useful. One point at around 26:55 where you show Samudaya Ashtakavarga. The totals shown in each house are only of all the planets and excludes Lagna points as is also evident in the Table. Is this a bug in the software or a feature of Sam. Ashtakavarga that Lagna points are not added? Kindly enlighten. Thank you.

  • You’re my guruuu😍😍😍😍 I’ve learned soooo sooo much for you. Thank you so much. I live in India nd can’t meet you :’) maybe my planets will help me to reach out to you one day surely. I’ve no guru except my school teacher and tutors but Guru like you 😍😭 is rare to find. I want to contact you please suggest something on how to reach you… I don’t have any card to pay for consultation nd my parents aren’t allowing. I am in 12th standard but have extreme passion for astrology. You said having rahu in second house makes him good astrologer with good placement of Jupiter. I have in Jupiter 10th house in sign of pisces having degree of 25.29° so this means i can become a good astrologer too? 😭😭😭 please reply. Sincerely, Your Shishya.

  • Hey Kapiel, How about this explanation : You need perfect amount of courage (3rd house) to initiate a thing. A coward person won’t initiate, an intrepid person won’t care to look at the situation carefully. Similarly, a person giving too much of himself/herself to relationships (7th house) won’t be happy all the time, a person neglecting relationships won’t be happy either. It is better to have close to 28 points rather than having too many points. I might be wrong but this thought has held some considerable amount of gravity for me.

  • Bill Gates having 29 points in his 11th house but still he is one of the richest man on this earth makes interpretation of ashtakvarga by modern astrologers a complete joke. Astrology can’t be that simple where 2+2 always makes 4. Ancient astrologers like parashara didn’t explained the concept comprehensively and wrote them in a generalised or vague manner for subsequent future generations.

  • and like you gave example of 3rd house, that low score will give bad relations with siblings, but if a person try an effort after knowing its points, to make good relaations with siblings and change his behaviour. and one more the noises you make are awesome hahahahahah I love that and makes us feel happy rather than bored. but sir pls atleast kindly reply to my this comment pls.

  • looking at it on Parashara but Bar chart says Aqua 2nd house most auspicious but 2nd house is lowest in points chart (?) . Points chart says 11th house is highest score. I have 56 Jupiter, 54 mercury too. Jupiter gives most points as Guru is home in d1 & d9 but does this mean go to the latitude Jupiter rules or 11th house bc 11th house receives most points of 38? Will you still do a reading of this kind? ok the missing piece 11 houses from Jupiter is 2nd. so go to where my AS is 2nd house Aquarius ? I have a Rahu in 12th d9 so relocation is in the cards…or at least work abroad.

  • I believe astakvarga system should be considered from planets natal position . The cumulative of 11th house should be the total of the points given by individual planets to their 11th house .As per the above article made if you check the astakvarga of mr Amitabh bacchan he has 42 points in his 6th house compared to only 31 in the first house which is contradictory as per the article.

  • Jupiter has given 0 point in my 12th house, Mercury 4. Does it mean l m not going to have any Guru or higher education in foreign lands or no control on my expenditure and is it that my Jupiter transit to scorpio next year is going to be horrible. . My 2nd house score low 22..so having hard time in savings money but Jupiter given me 8 points there and 7 points in 11th and 9th house.l will nt ask about whether l will be spiritual or nt bcz l knw myself when it comes to spirituality ..all these points are from your software..

  • Professor …for this article …we the creature of planet earth gives you “GEM OF JYOTISH” award 🙂 i hv 40 in 7th house jupiter 8 pts and saturn 6 pts …about to complete mercury maha by feb next yr ….mars rahu in 10th in aries (ruchak yog)…being cancer ASC mer+ven in 9th (neech bhanga yog)…debli jupiter in 7th (deblit. gets cxl according to some neech bhang theory)…..getting 3rd aspect of saturn from 5th house ……guess what …that scary noice you md for downfall …..anyways professor ….thx for hardwork and enlightenment ….looking forward to see new winner for “Gem of Jyotish” may be Professor S.RATH 🙂 …..

  • hey KRS . I GOT report from you and the total ashtavargha score in my 11th house shows 41 . isn’t that wrong . I just eat and sleep all day and look at charts wondering how this life works with my moon in mrigasira pada 2 in 10th with Mars being leo ascendant and amatyakaraka jupiter in leo . and that Rahu in moola in 5th .

  • I have purchased your report and I have so many wealth and “kingly” yogas, it’s funny I really don’t see myself this way and I’m not a spring chicken, but I’ve always felt like I’m meant to do something quite meaningful In this life! So we shall see I guess. My scores are mostly high from the lagna, alternate lagna and my dasha lord, but my lowest scores were 6th, 12th and 11th 🙁

  • I have average ashtavarga through out my chart 26-31 but my fifth house has least of 20. I am a scorpio ascendant with 5th Lord Jupiter in 2nd house in own house. My planetary placement Is not that bad for 5th house but asthavarga is bad. I have a 11 month old adorable son. What does that mean to relationship with my son?

  • You said you’ve hardly ever seen Saturn to give 8 points. I’m the one 😀 (you did my consultation couple of months ago). My 6th house receives 8 points from Saturn (guess that’s not good then…?). I’ve had enemies, yes, but that’s not a problem to me. I’m strong and fearless. And most of the time “winning” 😀 (my lagna is the same also in Moon chart and in Karakamsha, only Sun chart has different ascendant).

  • holly crap!!!! I’m half way through my saturn dasha $ (lol money sign was a typo.. maybe not.. anyz) 4th house i have saturn and jupiter … 2nd house 5 lord 45points….. whaaaaat am i trippin .. I’m about to do a 5month course in cert III disability and age care … Kapieeeeeeeeel if i get rich were getting drunk on dat fine Rum yo! hahaha
