What Is The Conspiracy Hypothesis Of Stonehedge?

Stonehenge, a prehistoric monument in southern England, has been the subject of various theories and explanations. One popular theory is that it was an ancient observatory used to mark midsummer, while others attribute it to Merlin’s wizardry and conspiracy theorists. Some scientists propose more grounded theories, such as the construction of Stonehenge by space aliens rather than Merlin.

One of the most iconic archaeological sites in the world, Stonehenge, is also known for its megalithic circle on Salisbury Plain. The site is believed to be the terminus of a long, ritualized funerary procession for treating the dead, which began during sunrise at Woodhenge and Durrington Walls, moved down the Avon, and then along the Avenue, reaching Stonehenge in the west at sunset.

New research into the prehistoric site’s acoustical properties suggests that the stone circle may have been used for exclusive ceremonies. The Georgia Guidestones, built in 1980, have been the focus of conspiracy theories since they were built.

Stonehenge is a unique prehistoric monument located at the center of a rich and varied prehistoric landscape and a World Heritage Site. New research into the site’s acoustical properties is revealing that the stone circle may have been used for exclusive ceremonies.

The Georgia Guidestones have been the focus of conspiracy theories since they were built in 1980. An exhibition at the British Museum uses the latest research to explore various theories about Stonehenge, including giants, wizards, aliens, and the site of an ancient health spa.

  • People in the past made a big deal out of things like the summer and winter solstice. One of the stones in the circle, along with another stone outside the circle were naturally occurring and lined up exactly with the sun setting (or rising, not sure) on the summer solstice. It stands to reason that this is why people built stone henge around it, to immortalize it. This kind of thing has been done multiple times throughout history so there’s no reason that this would be any different.

  • One thing I’m never keen on is people saying “somehow we modern humans can’t do why the ancients did without current technology? Sounds implausible!” Yet the Romans, Greeks, Japanese, and many other cultures made and built things we can’t. There is a lot about the ancient world we don’t understand and we are quick to dismiss the idea that we might not be as advanced as we can Once were.

  • The idea behind that “ancient” or “older” generations of humans could use magic is because they could connect with the earth and it was necessary to connect with at the time to live and survive. According to myths and legends, humans were far more adventurous and thrill seeking than people today. And as the centuries followed, humans slowly started to learn more about how to use matter instead of controlling it, so then adapted to that style of living instead. I’m a firm science believer but I really love mythology and it’s honestly fascinating how it could have been possible for us to airbend and stuff.

  • There was a article of a man who figure out that all it took was wedging. It was so effective that it can move insane large tons of rock even buildings in weight. If you know physics then all it took was simple one or two man power to build the structure from just wedging like a Crowbar. Now you may wonder how you can lift the stone up right it was simple as slowly stacking wood underneath the stone while wedging until you got it up high enough. Then dig hole deep enough next to it and make a fall into it to stand up right.

  • Stone Henge is a druid ring used as anchor point for druid ports. There are many more like it, there’s one in Steamfont Mountains, one in Butcherblock Mountains, Greater Faydark has one, theres one in the Emerald Jungle, one in the Commonlands, one in Southern Deserts of Ro and in North Karana to name a few.

  • Looking at the photos of Stonehenge, I think that this is not a sundial or structure for astronomical observations. This is the remnant of a huge building from which only the most durable elements of the structure have survived. Imagine a huge wooden building with a roof that is gigantic for those prehistoric times, something like a stadium at that time, supported by appropriate, perhaps too massive but necessary, stone supports. Humanity has always been fascinated by gigantic structures like the Egyptian pyramids, which were to bear witness to greatness and strength. In summary, it is a remnant of a great structure whose wooden or other non-durable elements have decayed.

  • I know how they did it. They made large, water tight crates and filled them with water. Then they built a second layer of air tight wood and placed it on top of the water. Then they placed the stones onto the top layer of wood and used the pressure of the trapped water to provide buoyancy to negate the weight of the stone. Then they used animals to pull the entire crates, which yes had many rotating logs underneath it, and hauled them to where ever they wanted. Once there they would position the crates to the proper placement. Release one side of the crates water causing the stone to drop on one side and slide off the crate. Also it was built as a tribute to the Atlanteans for the knowledge they shared.

  • No mention of the monument’s alignment with the winter solstice, which gave rise to the druid origin belief. Also, noting that it is a circular monument means that the builder’s, or at least the head builders, would have had to understand the geometry of the wheel, even if it is rolling logs. No mention of the human remains found in and around the site, many of which date back to the earliest times of the monument’s existance. It does seem to give the impression that the site was built for worshiping and honouring the dead. One of the better experts to check out is the work of Professor Michael Parker Pearson, who has headed the archaeological investigations into Stonehenge for the last few years.

  • Successors of Göbekli Tepe people moved from Anatolia, brought agriculture and their believes to Britain, built something close which resembled them old temples of their ancestors’ temples in Göbekli Tepe. Notice, Göbekli temple is much more elaborate than Stonehenge, because successors lost some skills during migration.

  • One hypothesis is that the phenomenological and transpersonal states of consciousness of these ancient humans interacted and made intelligible their objective and subjective universes in a way that the modern logical positivist mind cannot comprehend. I think all these ancient sites are forms of geomancy. We know a little bit about it, but it seems they understood more. What their aims were building these things, we don’t know enough.

  • At some point in our past, due to a catastrophic event, of which the earth has had its fair share, the dust in the sky blotted out the sunlight. Seasons/time observed by celestial events was impossible. The age of darkness was upon the world. Eventually the dust dissipated and the sun shown though, but what time/season was it? Considerable time would have to pass before the cycle of hunting, planting and such could be determined once more. But what if the darkness should return. The construction of a calendar so massive that should such a cataclysm occur again, when the sky clears there would be no need to worry about seasonal calculation the shrine will preserve time irregardless of the darkness.

  • A bloke just wanted to build a big stone house, got a load of labour to help him build it then realised it was to much hard work and sacked the idea off. If anyone is considering going to visit don’t waste your time. It was the biggest let down of my life after the time my parents did not get me a BMX for Christmas when I was 10. Stonehenge is just a pile of bricks that’s all. Far better places to visit and spend your money if you want to see British History.

  • Unfortunately this article is as outdated as Stonehenge. To update your article. We obviously don’t know the names of the ones who built Stonehenge, but what we do know is where they were born & lived first. As we know, the bluestones came from the county of Pembrokeshire in S.W Wales, as did the builders of the original Stonehenge, this already proved by science with the testing of cremated bones buried at the site and what I mean by original is the first circle built was made of bluestones not wood as you suggested. There was another Henge made of wood but not at the site of Stonehenge. Also, may I add. Stonehenge was not built first in Salisbury, England, but in Pembrokeshire in West Wales around 5,300 yrs ago. This was recently proved by Archeologists with the discovery of the actual quarry the bluestones came from. They after years of looking found also the original site the first Stonehenge stood before being moved east to where it stands now lock stock and barrel. How do we know this? A bluestone with a notch in it that’s standing in Salisbury was computer scanned and its size & shape fitted a stone hole left when one of the bluestones were removed perfectly that was used to align the site with the summer solstice. So without a doubt we Welsh (Cymry) are the builders of Stonehenge. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

  • It’s actually a buriel ground from bc, it was on TV lastnight,, they’ve unearthed bones that were from that era, alot of the dna from the bones come from Wales, there’s also across fro.m it there used to be like three big poles which were erected 300 years before the stones to commemorate the dead, there’s now three disks sitting there.

  • stone hedge isnt the only hendge in UK… so this was likely a very advanced civilisation for the time and it was connected to other communities easiest way i can think to build it would be use of earth… pile up earth really high.. bring the stone uphill.. remove the earth carefully.. end result is you have stones left on stones.. but then you still have to get the stones there.. they’d need paths.. roads and a means to roll something under them to allow them to move.. like i say… its not easy 🙂

  • I am a longtime fan and this is the only thing I’ve ever called ballshit multiple civilisations would come across that structure and understand it’s significance considering we truly do not understand it’s significance we understand it is a calendar that it coincides with the equinox and correlate quit obvious precision parts of our solar system we understand it is a piece of information developed from the knowledge of hundreds or thousands of years of information so how these other Civilizations could comprehend the significance of this site( besides Turkish because they are perhaps there’s civilization are the beginning well-considered the beginning of knowledge of our solar system and this kind of thinking and comprehension that we credit) but I truly think is it was constructed by a single people or group there is no way it would have been finished think if someone came across the pyramids Newgrange Machu Picchu half built that they could comprehend what did designers were trying to do but I love this website and I listen every day

  • Stonehenge was obviously a cage. A cage built for keeping something very powerful in. Complete with multiple layers of barriers and security, just like the concentric razor wire fences installed around modern day prisons. Something big and powerful, like a Titan. So was Puma Punku in Bolivia. It was likely built by Poseidon to house the conquered rebeliuos Titans as it is recorded. Puma Punku was a full on prison complex, complete with multiple units or cell blocks, and even a segregation, the so called H block building. I realized all of this when I realized that the H blocks were interlocking for enough strength to keep in a very powerful monster. It is the ancient construction with interlocking geometricly square block formed walls. One of a kind and completely impossible to recreate.

  • Your animation doesn’t quite show how you view the monument. You cannot get close to the stones. There is a roped walkway and stewards making sure people don’t get too close or children touch the stones. The new visitors centre is fantastic and gives so much food for thought. We live about an hour away in North Wiltshire. At this time of year the roads around it end up with delayed traffic. The druids and Wiccan are only allowed into the stone circle for summer and winter solstice,June 21st and December 21st. There is a very calming feeling as you walk past the stones. It definitely evokes feeling. I doubt we will ever be sure what it means, it’s purpose etc, but just take it at face value. A monument that defies explanation of its purpose and perplexes you as to how it was built. There are 2 other stone circles in the area, Avebury stone circle and woodhenge. Both of those are free to view. The last time we went toStonehenge it was about £10 each. It’s worth it because of the visitors centre.

  • Trying to interject some amount of common sense in here, we have to ask why would anyone build Stonehenge? What would possess people to want to carry, construct, and arrange these massive stone slabs? Either it is the works of aliens or Merlin the fortitude to do a project such as this would suggest the importance of the Stonehenge and its location. At the time it was estimated to be built there were beliefs and religions that we have no records of, that probably influenced the construction of Stonehenge. No matter what it was in the end, there must have been a significant event to undertake a project so big that doesn’t provide any of the basic needs at the time for humans.

  • I built the Stonehenge I saw the big stones already there I dug holes equal to the length of each stone then I slided and buried the stones into those holes vertically then I slided the remaining stones on top of the vertically buried stones then I dug around the vertically buried stones the result is infront of you. Don’t make a big deal out of it it was very easy.

  • What if it’s something connection as in connection/entrance like a door which leads to some mysterious place/world… because in one of historical article which I had saw he claimed that there were few people in ancient time who used to worship at that place, there can be chances right like some powerful immortal species destroyed it so no-one other then them can have access to it… Ik it’s sounds filmy but come-on major of films are mindsets of humans so why not this…

  • they tested that theory with the loggs transporting dindt work since the weight of the stones would shatter the loggs beneath it also the raft option wouldt work again the weight issue then i would say did we find simulair stones on the coastsite since a accident would most likely to happen since they gues where praticily be half cavemens

  • “we here at the Infographic show have deduced that Stonehenge is an inter-dimensional aperture through which space aliens, from the Zeta Riticuli nebula, will one day invade in order to feed on our delicious brains… who are you gonna believe, leading researching and scientists or the internet?” TROLL KINGS and QUEENS. I love and hate you people so much XD

  • The sarcastic tone used when explaining the alien theory, kills me. You don’t know exactly how the stone hedges were built or why, but you know it wasn’t aliens or our ancestors. Which is crazy. As advance as we are today, I don’t see any possible way that we could align pyramids, that was aligned with the stars, to middle of everything to make something similar to a portal (in my eyes).

  • I believe in Aliens but I ALSO believe ropes and pullies are powerful things that’s can be made very easy, and I don’t doubt they had them. Along with the Aztecs, the Mayas, the Egyptians. Again, I believe in aliens but I don’t think aliens needs to be the only explanation. And about transportating the stones they could’ve just rocked them back and forth like what the Easter Island natives say had happened there.

  • Quarter circlesi would of believed! If you don’t know what that is,imagine a quarter of a circle on threw outside and a ninety degree V on thw inside. So you put one on each corner and wrap it with ropes. Then you pull on the rope and, while it unwinds it,it gives you a two to one pulley action and let’s it roll instead of being drug through the mud with a rock that’s hundreds of tons

  • Firstly, Stonehenge was built by 300 kilogram workers. The heavier the man the stronger he is and this is how they moved the stone blocks. Furthermore, a row of half a dozen 300kg workers would have more strength than a row of eight 80kg workers. Just by dividing their bodyweight you can calculate that a row of six 300kg workers would be 281% the strength of a row of eight 80kg workers. As a result, the 2.5 tonne Stonehenge blocks are actually moveable with a hundred meters of these workers.
