Fluorite is a colorless and transparent mineral with various uses in various industries, including smelting, glass production, and photographic optics. Its opaque, transparent nature and anomalous partial dispersion make it useful in making apochromatic lenses and photographic optics. Fluorite’s name comes from the Latin verb “fluere”, meaning to flow, and the term “fluorus”, meaning flowing, loose, or slack. The mineral was originally termed fluorspar and was first discussed in a 1530 work by Georgius Agricola.

In 1852, fluorite was named after the phenomenon of fluorescence, which is prominent in fluorites due to certain impurities in the crystal. Fluorite also gave the name to its constitutive element, fluorine. Currently, the term “fluorspar” is most commonly used for fluorite as an industrial and chemical commodity, while “fluorite” is used mineralogically and in most other senses. Fluorite’s name is derived from the Latin adjective “fluorus”, meaning flowing, loose, slack. The mineral’s optical properties make it useful in the far-ultraviolet and mid-infrared ranges, where conventional glasses are too opaque.

  • I have a yellow stone I can’t tell if it’s fluorite or quartz. I scratched it with a knife and it showed very light micro scratches. Is this fluorite? Or would the scratches be deeper if it was fluorite? I did scratch against it with medium intensity. The stone has phantom banding, is tumbled and polished

  • Can you please help me with my problem? I didn’t know it before that multi fluorite crystal shoud not clean in water & i was keep cleaning it with salt water with other crystals. I want to know that my crystal is damaged or what would happen to it. Is it still working for me or it’s just a peace of jwellery for me now…… please kindly help me 🙏

  • Cleaning & charging of crystals is very important as crystals absorb negative energy. Cleaning of crystal can include washing under running water, keeping in sea salt/rock salt, etc. Charging of crystals can be keeping in under Full-Moon night, burying it under mud/soil, keep in rain, etc. Understand that crystals comes from the ground & every thing related to nature can clean & charge crystals. Also understand that not all crystals can take water well. Some crystals can be destroyed, color may fade away, shine or luster can be harmed. Do proper research before keeping them under water. Om Namah Shivaya ✨🙏

  • same happened with me, whenever i started meditating and spreading my self love feelings and intentions to mother universe from that day onwards my plants are growing lush green and fresh, earlier also i have observed that same plants i kept in my work desk under very limited sunlight exposure but besides crystals, it survived well, but same plant kept under full of sunlight and wind exposure in my room’s balcony, it still didn’t survive, because that time i was not doing meditation or not spreading my love to mother nature.

  • I had a Tanzanite and citrine mala.. I was drawn to it in a Mala store. I wore it for one week, it was life changing. I had many truth reveal moments about my so called friends then. Like I heard them accidentally talking so bad about me or I had my best friend who avoided me bec she is a very negative person. And I had another best friend that lied to me and I caught her on face!! I was devastated with the whole back to back unexpected situations.. like I thought with all that my life was falling apart and I removed the mala.. but but but whatever situations happen was really for my own good. I was a very very social person before. That one week changed quality of my life, i learnt being social wisely. And I am an ambivert now and I think before I speak or trust. After that one week, I never wore it but I really want to wear it again.. also I am scared of those radical shifts it can make in span of days.. Can anyone suggest should I wear it or let it go?
