The Los Angeles Chargers, along with four other NFL teams, do not have an official mascot. However, they do have an unofficial mascot named “Boltman” with a lightning bolt. In 2020, the Chargers collaborated with Canin to create this mascot.
All 32 teams in the NFL have their own mascots, except for five of them: Oakland Raiders, New York Jets, Green Bay, and Arizona Cardinals. The Big Red mascot, which debuted in 1998, is 100 years old. As of the 2022 NFL season, there are four teams without an official mascot: New York Giants, New York Giants, New York Jets, and Washington.
An NFL team does not need a mascot to succeed, but the Green Bay Packers, Los Angeles Chargers, New York Giants, New York Jets, and Washington have five mascot-less teams. The Broncos technically don’t have a mascot, but Elway entertains fans mid-game. Only the New York Jets, Green Bay Packers, New York Giants, and Washington Redskins have no official team mascots, while the other 28 teams each have at least one.
The fans believe that Cleveland Brown is the only NFL team in history to name their team after something that doesn’t exist, as a fan proved the theory. The Los Angeles Chargers, New York Jets, Green Bay Packers, New York Giants, and Washington Commanders are the only NFL teams without a mascot.
