In Elder Scrolls Online (ESO), the Destruction Staff is one of six weapon skills available. Each staff has an elemental type associated with it, such as Lightning Staff dealing shock damage. Destro/Resto staves skills based on Max Magicka and Spell Damage, with Light and Heavy attacks scaled off of weapon damage. Destruction Staves come in three varieties: “Inferno”, “Ice”, and “Lightning”.
The Bloody Smash Scribing Skill is a two-handed weapon ability that deals massive Bleed Damage and debuffs enemies with Breach. The Restoration Staff skill-line has active skills that can be activated during combat and passive skills that remain active as long as you have a Restoration Staff.
Staves are the primary weapons of the wizard and are critical for casting spells in Enshrouded. They have unlimited durability, allowing them to cast spells until you run out of ammo. Staff attacks are magical and scale off magic stats, but they are technically weapons. Frost Staves can be crafted, dropped from bosses, found in chests, acquired from vendors or Guild Merchants, or awarded in Pledge Chests.
In ESO, there are four types of staffs: Fire, Lightning, Ice, and a Restoration staff. Currently, a staff is needed to perform spells/magic, but in Skyrim, a staff is not needed to perform magic. Staves designed for casting spells exist across all schools of magic, including restoration, destruction, illusion, conjuration, alteration, thaumaturgy, and more. Penetrating Magic allows the player’s destruction staff to ignore 10 of the enemies’ spell resistance, making it even more effective.

How do staves work in eso?
Staves are weapons in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim that can be dual-wielded and can be refilled with soul gems. They are categorized into magic schools, with usage costs dropping as skill levels increase. Most staves share appearances and cannot be depleted with enchantments. Dragon Priests are known for their use of staves, which are crafted using spells from the Alteration school. High Alteration skill levels reduce stave usage costs, and Fortify Alteration enchantments can further reduce costs, achieving a 100% reduction.

Can mages use staffs?
A Mage’s Staff is a vital instrument for spellcasting, as it enables the concentration of mana, thereby facilitating more expedient and efficacious results. Although the differences may appear to be superficial, the distinctive capabilities of each should not be underestimated.
Can Nightblades use staffs?
Nightblades might come across as a bunch of knife-wielding killer-in-the-night types, but they can actually be played nicely in the Support role as well as DPS. The Siphoning skill tree specifically is home to a number of party-wide heals and buffs as well as powerful damage-support hybrid spells. A Restoration Staff gives the Nightblade a number of similar spells, making it the go-to Support weapon for both the primary and back weapon slots.
The Siphoning skill tree gives powerful multi-target heals like Funnel Health, and the self-sacrifice spell Malevolent Offering. The Restoration Staff skill tree offers additional powerful abilities that don’t directly damage opponents. The skill Combat Prayer is a go-to for many Support builds for its AoE heal and buff effect, while Steadfast Ward gives the Nightblade the ability to shield allies. In the back bar, it can make the Nightblade an effective off-Support, in case the party’s main Support needs a little assistance.
- Notable Abilities: Elemental Drain, for its resource regeneration, Elemental Blockage, for its Crowd Control, and the Ultimate Eye of the Storm, for its pulsing AoE damage output
- Pros: Arguably the best ranged Weapon Skill Tree in The Elder Scrolls Online, high damage output alongside useful buffs and CC abilities
- Cons: Few, Nightblades tend to like Stamina-based builds, though Magicka-based ones are equally effective

Who is the strongest playable character in the Elder Scrolls?
The Hero of Kvatch is considered one of the strongest protagonists in the Elder Scrolls series, despite not being able to climb, levitate, or teleport. Despite not being able to climb, levitate, or teleport, The Hero of Kvatch has impressive feats, such as becoming The Champion of the Arena, Head of the Mages Guild, and The Grey Fox. They travel to the realm of Oblivion multiple times to close gates and assist Marten in stopping the Daedric Prince Mehrunes Dagon, earning them the title of Seventh Champion of Cyrodiil.
During the events of Oblivion’s Shivering Isles DLC, The Hero of Kvatch gains the favor of the God Sheogorath, who promises to make the player their champion and grow powerful. This is widely accepted among fans, as The Hero of Kvatch eventually mantles Sheogorath and becomes him. None of the other protagonists can match the power of the Dedric Prince of Madness.

Are staffs good in eso?
Staffs in the Elder Scrolls Online (ESO) come in two variations: destruction and restoration. Both types have unique skills that can either break or improve a player’s build. The best staff skills to consider are Absorb, which can be bought for passive purposes. This staff can be useful in battles with a player’s group, as it allows players to restore their Magicka, which is needed for many staff abilities. Upgrading Absorb can make players self-sufficient, avoiding the worry of running out of Magicka to use more abilities, especially in intense situations where resources may be limited.
📹 ESO | Destruction staves BALANCED at last?
The lightning staff and Flame Staff passives have changed AGAIN for the 7millionth time in the last 6 years in The Elder Scrolls …
For Templar, I’m feeling rather excited by lightning staff front bar & maelstrom two-hander backbar to boost jabs damage. “Merciless Charge: This set now increases your damage done with direct damage attacks by 9.3% of your Weapon or Spell Damage, up to a maximum of 560, rather than increasing your damage done with all Two Handed attacks by 11.16% of your Weapon or Spell Damage with no maximum.” So, I take it, that’s up to 560 for each hit of jabs. Also, I’m really loving the visual of lightning staff frontbar on Templar. You can select a motif that makes the staff appear to be spear-like, and it is very easy to see when a lightning staff light attack goes off which is beneficial, I think, especially on console. Elemental Susceptbility is a great solo skill that’s resource-agnostic.
Interesting changes. I wonder if within Destruction Staves and their elements if the game would enjoy Scepters, Tomes, and Quarterstaves/elemental sword and rune. Martial/Ranged has Dual wield, 2H, Bow, S&B but within those categories are a single bow and shield type, maces, mauls, swords, greatswords, daggers, axes, and great axes with their own perks without adding whole skill lines for them. Would the game be better, worse, or even if magic followed the same path?
While increasing dot DPS is nice I think most choose lighting staff because the only things alive long enough to benefit from full DOT dmg is bosses. Most other mobs are dead before the 20 sec time frame. I would like to see if he makes any changes to his toxic duel wield build or his mag dragon flame build.
DOT-focused Fire backbar for sure… lightning vs fire front is gonna depend on class. A nightblade would probably be better off with lightning, because front bar is usually stab (direct), bow proc (direct), execute (direct) as the bulk of their frontbar time. A warden probably lightning (if they’re not doing an ice build) Sorc… probably either would be about equal Templar and arcanist you already explained why they’re mostly equal. Dragonknight… probably fire, given the number of DOTs a DK frontbar usually has. Necro… probably lightning, since I assume blastbones is direct damage
They are already COMPLETELY FINE. Fire staff single target Lightning staff AOE Ice staff Tanking. Why not just ADD a new staff that does the websiteling and Dot damage increase like a Magic Staff since that is a type of damage different from the rest…..? Nobody asking for this change usual from these devs.
