Hollywierd today doesn’t like happy endings like past generations. You have to bed hop with a minimum of one other person first, be it male or female or bisexual. And of course, there are the gratuitous sex scenes and the blood & gore, all with a sound background four times as loud as it should be. So any alleged happy ending must be preceded by bed hopping, sexual scenes that are pornographic and then at the very end, the couple finally comes together. But all the sex scenes are shown before that happens, with some other sex “partner”. And let’s not forget the token homosexual actor/actress thrown in for political correctness… Normalcy is no longer “normal” in today’s society, and monogamy is taboo.
Gene Tierney is probably my favorite actress from the golden years of Hollywood. But one thing kept bugging me all the way through this film – that is the legal concept of the burden of proof. Even if the nominated courthouse had burned down the burden of proof still rests on Miss Farley to prove her marriage claim, but all the legal persons in the film incorrectly assumed her claim was true and transferred the burden on Tyler to disprove the claim. I’m sure that real life judges and lawyers would have known better than that
Seen some these but as we spent many yrs assoc with the Cent London Theater scene and BBC we know what actors are like. We cannot understand why people adore these individuals whilst all round the viewers people are ignored. We sent out about 1000 mails re Mentral Health anomalies goiung on in Govt Press. Health systems and all were ignored. We refer to many deaths. The people depicted on this site are stereo types and that appeals to public. Theres no way the public are going to wake up even though the virus arrived. How sad is this planet.
Actually the last sense to be lost when we are knocked out is HEARING. They thought me unaware after a road accident – so they chatted “Is he dead?” and stuff like that. Although alarmed within, I did wonder if in fact I wasn’t dead. No sense of having a body, no vision, no touch sensation, no pain – I could not move anything to let them know. First vision was a torch being shone in my eyes by a constable – to see if my pupils changed. But this reality would have disrupted the movie plot. However, if you are at an accident and people are non-responsive, do please be encouraging to them, even if you think them dead.
This must be pronounced a fine movie…for me because I love Gene Tierney (in “Laura” with Dana Andrews…Great film!) I never cared for Tyrone Power at all and the story was goofy…I hung on to watch Miss Tierney. A great actress and a beauty to behold. She should have gotten an Oscar, Andrews too, in Laura, which was made just before or after this film.
Ten years later 1958 Tyrone Power would did of a heart attack at the age of 44 . So he was 34 when this movie was made in 1948 . His hair was already greying so they would die for films like this . It has been written many times that after being a bomber pilot in world war 2, Tyrone Power was really troubled . Like all decent men whatever side, who know they have probably killed some innocent civilians they have a conscience . He should not have blamed himself so much but thats what decent sensitive men do . Now asshole hypocrites like John Wayne got many deferments and always played the thought war hero or cowboy . lard ass Wayne said he could do more for US morale by making hero movies . And use to beat up women in real life .
