The first question is incorrect as generic crit applies to all skills, including spells and weapons. If it specifies spells, it only works for spells. The second form of ice spear has a 63 crit chance, while other spells have different sw crit chances. Crit multiplier works for all skills, whether throwing spell or melee. Spell crit increases a spell’s crit chance, usually a higher for the same tier on an item.
Critical Strike Chance is mostly local for the weapon, with Spell Critical Strike Chance applying only to spells. Power charges add another 40 crit chance each, and getting crit mods (FOR SPELLS!) on your gear can increase the crit chance by 200-300. Global crit chance applies to everything, and passives that just say crit chance without specifying a weapon group or spells apply to everything as well.
Critical Strike Chance is an Offensive Stat in Diablo 4, referring to the chance to perform a critical strike. It is easy to cap with a good Implicit on your Crystal Skull plus some Intelligence and Spell Critical Strike Chance on your gear. Crit chance works for all skills, whether throwing spell or melee.
The first question is incorrect, as “Critical Strike Chance” on a weapon is a local modifier, only increasing the crit chance of that weapon. “Global Critical Chance” only applies to all skills. Critical Strike is potent because it is a passive skill, always active and combines with additional skills like Multiple Shot and Pierce. Cast on Critical Strike (CoC) is a support gem that causes linked spells to trigger when the player critically strikes with a linked skill.

Do critical hits apply to spells?
In DND 5e, spells that require an attack roll, such as the Firebolt cantrip, can critically hit. However, spells relying on a saving throw, like Sacred Flame, cannot crit. To guarantee a critical hit, exploit conditions like Paralysed and Unconscious, which automatically make attacks into critical hits. Gaining an advantage on attack rolls can also increase the chance of getting a critical hit, such as flanking, using the Greater Invisibility spell, or using class-specific abilities like Reckless Attack.
Does critical strike rating apply to spells?
Spell critical strike rating increases the chance to critically hit with a spell equally for all classes, with a higher rating at level 70 and level 80. Talents that affect the crit chance of all spells or specific spells, such as Conviction or Critical Mass, directly add to the calculated “Crit Chance” on the character pane. Talents that only affect the spell crit chance of a specific spell, like Incineration and Force of Will, are not included in the spell “Crit Chance” on the character pane.
Death Knights do not receive a bonus Spell Crit Chance from intellect and do not have a class constant. Rogues and Warriors have a spell critical strike chance of 0 regardless of their Intellect, but the Warrior ability Thunder Clap uses Spell Critical Strike Rating to determine the chance to crit. When choosing between equipment with higher spell critical strike or higher +spell damage, consider these factors.
Does increased critical strike chance affect spells in Poe?
The Critical Strike for Spells skill has several basic passives that affect its effectiveness. These include increasing Cast Speed and Spell Critical Strike Chance, increasing Spell Critical Strike Chance, increasing Spell Critical Strike Chance, increasing Critical Ignite Damage Multiplier, and increasing Spell Critical Strike Multiplier. Notable Passives affecting Critical Strike for Spells include Annihilation, Arcane Potency, Doom Cast, Light of Divinity, Nimbleness, and Searing Heat.
Annihilation increases Critical Strike Chance for Spells by 50, while Arcane Potency increases Critical Strike Chance by 30 and Multiplier by 30. Doom Cast increases Critical Strike Chance by 60 and Multiplier by 15 respectively. Light of Divinity increases Spell Damage, Cast Speed, and Critical Strike Chance by 15 and Light Radius by 10. Nimbleness increases Cast Speed and Critical Strike Multiplier by 12 and Movement Speed by 15 respectively. Searing Heat increases Damage over Time Multiplier for Ignite from Critical Strikes by 20 and Critical Strike Multiplier against Burning Enemies.
How do you get 100% critical chance?
Some pets, such as skeletons, are known to provide critical chance opportunities, yet they may not be the optimal selection for all pets.
Does chance on hit work with spells?
The Blade Vortex spell is a melee-range survival aid that rapidly strikes with physical force, rendering it a useful and versatile spell. It is applied indiscriminately and with sufficient frequency to be applied frequently. It should be noted that any spell that deals a “hit” can apply it, as the affixes in this game are very literal.
How does critical strike work?
Critical strike chance is a damage multiplier that increases the damage dealt by a critical strike event when averaged over a high number of basic attacks. It deals 175 of its normal damage by default, and can occur on some items and abilities, almost always on basic attacks. The most common form of critical strike occurs on basic attacks, except for Fiora’s Bladework, Jhin’s Whisper, Master Yi’s Double Strike, and Rengar’s Savagery.
Champions can increase their chances to critically strike and deal more damage with items and abilities, especially for champions who deal damage primarily with basic attacks. Some champions, like Ashe, have an affinity for critical strikes and benefit more from items that improve them.
How does critical strike chance work in Terraria?
Critical hits occur randomly when striking enemies, with each successful hit having a 4 chance of being a “critical hit”, dealing double the usual damage and 40 more knockback. Some weapons have a higher base critical strike chance, and certain modifiers, armor bonuses, accessories, and buffs can increase the player’s effective critical strike chance. Critical hits are displayed as slightly exaggerated bold damage numbers, with deeper color and travel higher than ordinary hits. Sentry weapons cannot stack these factors, resulting in a maximum critical hit rate of 25.
What’s better, lucky or menacing?
The author’s preference for Menacing over Lucky is based on its consistent damage output, which is more advantageous for those constructing a critical build. Menacing is therefore recommended for those seeking to maximize damage output.
Can you crit on a spell 5e?
The D and D 5e rules allow spells to perform critical hits, but they must have an associated attack roll. For example, the fire bolt cantrip can crit an enemy with an attack roll, while sacred flame cannot. These spells typically deal damage to a single target, while saving throw spells have additional effects or spread damage across multiple foes.
The first update for One D and D on D and D Beyond, “Character Options”, introduces significant changes to the rules. Monsters are no longer able to crit, and only the damage dice of the weapon/unarmed attack are doubled. This means that Sneak Attack and Divine Smite no longer benefit from crits, as extra sources of damage outside the weapon are not counted among the eligible damage dice.
Spells cannot crit in One D and D, meaning rolling a nat 20 on an attack roll for a spell means it’s a guaranteed hit without any benefit to damage. This change is likely an attempt to prevent excessive damage dice roll in mid-levels, where casters can cast low-level spells at a higher level.
Does critical chance increase damage?
The probability of a critical hit is inherent to each weapon; however, this probability may be augmented through the application of modifications and enhancements. The majority of enhancements to critical hit probability are relative to the base probability, accumulating additively with each additional enhancement. To illustrate, a Braton equipped with Point Strike and Argon Scope exhibits a critical hit probability of 5%.
How does crit chance work in PoE?
The base critical strike chance is the default crit value of a skill before any additional modifiers. It is usually the crit chance of the weapon used to hit, including increased Critical Strike Chance on the weapon. Spells have their base crit listed on the gem, while minions have variable base crit depending on their type. Additional effects from 1-20 quality include Cursed Enemies granting a Power Charge and Supported Skills increasing Critical Strike Chance.

I really wanted meteor wizard to be good. I was building to a 100% crit strike chance with the same legendary and then put the meteor crits deal 100% increase dmg to health targets legendary (on a staff). I did it at lvl 50 and it would hit really hard but it struggled for keeping mana up when inferno was on cd. I was missing some key legendaries too. Hoping fire gets a buff in the big patch.
Realistically it should be at 80 mana since mana is so hard to come by in the game. I got like 50% base lucky hit before paragon board procs and barrier bonus and I still find myself out of mana. I have all the legos and even lucky hit chance to refund mana and still find myself out of mana at lvl 81.
Is there any particularly great way to farm for rings with prodigy aspect on them? So far I haven’t found a single one. My build is mostly identical, but I only have the prodigy aspect from the codex, which is only at 15 mana per cooldown and having some more would be great. 😉 Any recommendations or is it just 100% RNG to drop one?
This is not a consistent viable build, as the proc for Avalanche even with the aspect can only proc 20% of the time, and that’s if you have a 100% lucky hit chance, which is almost impossible to have. To have some item stats that add your mana is also not a good way to burn your resources to roll to get it. Anyway I enjoy your contect alot and keep up the good work!
Hey Tashman, with all the stuff popping off in the gaming community with call of duty, Destiny, and the recent DDos attack on Blizzard, I was curious if you guys would consider booting up the Real Gamer Hour again. It was such a pleasure to hear you guys covering the latest gamer news. I completely understand you got busy with IRL but was curious if that was something you were considering bringing back into the content stream. Thanks!
Prodigy on ring is such a waste at high level. With enough lucky hit on helm, gloves, offhand, skill points, and paragon, chance to gain x% resource on offhand + gloves = you should never have mana problems. You want lucky hit anyway for the avalanche procs. This frees up your resource aspect for an offensive one boosting your damage way more.
I believe you have made a BIG mistake in understanding Core skills, Basic skills and Mastery skills. If your main damage skill is in Basic skills ie Ice shards then 100% crit chance for Core skills don’t really benefit you at all. Please check what I said and sadly you missed the most important point but thanks for showing us the possibility of maxing up our Crit Chance….
I really cannot commit to Raiment.. I have a G roll chest piece with total armor, dmg; max life and total dmg reduction with the low end frost nova double charge., I’m walking into a nightmare now with Raiments though just to see how I feel.. it’s an extra cooldown for mama gain and control over the screen with 2 novas though my seeds.
