The user has recently purchased a new LG OLED 77″ TV and is struggling to use only the LG Magic Remote for certain functions. They have programmed the LG Magic Remote to control DirecTV, but are having trouble connecting it to their LG Smart TV. To pair a DirecTV Genie Remote to their LG TV using the IR/RF setup method, point the remote at the Genie HD DVR, Genie Mini, or Wireless Genie Mini, hold the MUTE button, and follow the steps to pair the remote.
The user has synced their LD MR22GN remote to the Direct TV top box, but the only controls that work are on/off, channel, volume, and favorites list. The Guide button on the LG remote does not work, and LG seems to have no intent to add them since none of the LG models have them.
The user believes that the LG Magic Remote can control the DirectV receiver in IR mode. However, they have not been able to program the LG Magic Remote from an LG C1 to control a DirecTV Stream box. The Magic remote has the capability of picking up most major cable networks, including Cox Communications or DirecTv.
The user can enjoy all the DirecTV they wish on their OLED TV using the ThinQ app. However, they cannot control the genie box using their LG Magic Remote.
