Is there any truth to astrology?

Astrology is a belief system that suggests a connection between astronomical phenomena and human events or personality descriptions. However, it has been criticized by the scientific community for lacking explanatory power and scientific testing has found no evidence to support its premises or effects. The most famous test, led by Shawn Carlson, concluded that natal astrology performed no better than chance. Astrology has not demonstrated its effectiveness in controlled studies and has no scientific validity, making it regarded as pseudoscience.

There is no proposed mechanism by which stars and planets’ positions and motions could affect people and events on Earth in the way astrologers claim, which contradicts well-understood aspects of biology and physics. Modern scientific inquiry into astrology focuses on the correlation between astrological traditions and the influence of seasonal birth in humans.

  • Uranus is my second dominant planet 🙈 people tell me things like: “you’re different” or “you’re rare” 😂 i view others as equals, at the end of the day we are all unique and at the same time connected in levels we can’t understand (that’s part of the mistery of the universe) but i have my sun and mercury in Cancer 🦀 so i totally care for the feelings of others and i can feel everything💫

  • This was so interesting thank you! I like the idea of Aquarius being co-ruled by Saturn and Uranus. I haven’t seen any of the vegan teacher stuff cause everything seems aggressive and I’m too tired for it sfdgsjsh but I’ve got a loose Moon trine Uranus so maybe I’ll have a look to see what you mean. What you said about how different the 90s were to today made me remember a question I’ve had for a while. I don’t know if it’s just a subjective perspective, but I feel like things collectively got a progressive push through the 60s-80s, then temporarily went backwards in the 90s/00s? Was there an astrological reason to that? (I’m in the Pluto Scorpio, Neptune Uranus Capricorn generation if that means anything) I remember how weird it was growing up with the disconnect between the reality of the pretty conservative world I grew up in, vs the more liberal version of the world my parents had become adults in, and mistakenly thought I was also experiencing. The only insight I had into it was via the artists they shared with me, e.g. Prince (29° aqua IC, 10H uranus) came to mind as someone who did the androgynous thing earlier, and Freddie Mercury and Bowie (aqua AC) in their own way.

  • Really enjoy articles about which planet rules Aquarius. Personally don’t see Saturn ONLY ruling Aquarius. Saturn’s materialism, possessiveness, restrictions and conservatism doesn’t fit with Aquarius’ character. Uranus energy of destruction, not caring (rebellion) gives me more Aquarius energy. Just a thought.

  • Haha spot on and very interesting. Having unpopular opinions and having the room go silent when you speak…it is like you are disrupting moods/atmosphere of the moment and it’s jarring to others, even when it’s a harmless response or question. I have a love/hate relationship with it. it doesn’t make life very easy, def deals you the automatic “weirdo” card from birth, haha..my advice, avoid the pain and stress of conforming to society and others, and FYW (Find Your Weirdos) For other Uranus risings, do you sometimes find when walking indoors, running into or clipping walls/doors but keep moving?! Almost like our electrical circuits/patterns/movements are lightning-like instead of a smooth controlled electrical current …not talking clumsy more like dam, there’s a wall/door there huh, and just keep going lol. Almost like this boundless uranian energy can’t be contained/confined indoors and we don’t see walls/doors…umm physics…trying to stop us haha

  • @puroastrology Crazy helpful. Thank you! I’d love to see a Venus Aries vs Venus in 1st house article from you. This particular one is puzzling me like Uranus vs Aquarius as Venus first house not like Aries (So man with Venus first house likely not drawn to Venus Aries woman… sorry to be so off topic. This distinction’s bugging me)

  • Uranus also rules Technology, Electricity, invention, revolution, Rebellion, and unexpected events/shocking (change, illness, accidents/ chaos as you mentioned), Which are very Aqua’s traits. Feel like Saturn is also not associated with friendship or friendliness, Individualism, invention, so that could go both ways. Aqua’s cares about individualism for the bigger cause (society) .I don’t think Aquas are concerned about feelings/ believes of others especially if that goes against the bigger picture. I’m an interested observer of astrology and I would say both Uranus & Saturn rules Aquarius. I have an Aqua Stellium(Sun,mars&Venus) + Uranus in the 6th House, was born a day after Harry haha, I personally don’t associate with Saturn as much but i really enjoyed the article. 😛

  • I understand what you said about the difference between Uranus and Aquarius because of how it effects me personally. I see the world in a very different way than most people. What is obvious to me is incomprehensible to most people. I wish I had understood this earlier in life. There is a group think mentality in the way the world operates that I never agreed with. Now I see things a little differently.

  • Another thing is all of my favorite musicians tend to have some sort of aquarius or uranus in their chart, like Jim Morrison, Bowie, St. Vincent, Adrian Belew, John Lennon, Lindsey Buckingham, Kevin Parker, Robin Guthrie, Janis Joplin, Billie Holiday, Donovan, Skeeter Davis, Robin Trower, Björk, Alicia Keys, Pete Townshend, Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan, Elvis Costello etc. The list is infinite, aquarian music feels very “at home” for me ((aquarius 4th house, uranus on the ic))

  • Yay I was so excited to see this on my recommended! Beautiful breakdown as always, you have a knack for clearly describing topics that could be confusing. I know this is out of left field, but I’d love it if one day you did an astrological breakdown on music. Like which bands or artists really represent a certain planetary, sign, or house energy. I’m still a baby when it comes to astrology (I just started learning about it) but Florence + The Machine for example gives me 12th house vibes, while Sevdaliza I feel embodies more Aquarian energy as I feel like she’s very good at highlighting issues within society that need to be changed.

  • Uranus rules : Sudden change Astrology Technology Air planes and so on ……… I am an Aquarian in the 9th house . I am more of a Philosopher than a religious person . To understand a person on a deeper level in Astrology, you have to take Astrology deeper than Western Astrology .. Each person’s birth chart have 2 sides like a coin, but in Western Astrology you’re only see 1 side of a coin . For an example : My Sun is in Aquarius ( 9th House ) . The other half of the coin is Sun in Scorpio ( 2nd house ) . Ascendant : Gemini with Saturn in the 1st house / Libra with Mercury in the 1st house . I have Saturn in the 1st house . The other side of the coin is Saturn in the 5th house . 5th house rules children . Saturn in the 5th house means i will be having children later in life . I wouldn’t known that if i only looked on 1 chart . Saturn also means delay . I didn’t start having children into my early 30’s . Saturn delay me from having children later in life . In Vedic Astrology : Capricorn in the 9th house ( Sun ) . The other half of the coin in Aries ( Sun ) in the 2nd house . Ascendant : Taurus / Pisces I was never going to be a tall person . Taurus and Pisces Ascendants are actually short people not tall people unless they have Planets that Aspects their Zodiac sign which could make a person a little bit taller . . 1 side of a coin is Taurus and the other side of the coin is Pisces . Taurus with Saturn in the 1st house / Pisces with Mercury in the 1st house . You ever seen Taurus Ascendant person walk fast ?

  • This is a great breakdown, Denisse! Makes a lot of sense. Can you see a lot of modern astrologers potentially switching over to more traditional practices (whole sign, traditional rulers etc.) in future? Also – about the vegan thing – I don’t have any Virgo placements other than the south node, but I have alot of planets in the 6th house and I’m plant based (vegan). I know 6th house doesn’t necessarily translate to Virgo, but I’m supposing there are some similarities 🙂
