New Orleans rapper Michael “Mystikal” Tyler, also known as Michael Lawrence Tyler, has pleaded not guilty to multiple charges including first-degree rape and simple robbery. He faces charges of rape and false imprisonment and has been denied bond multiple times since his arrest in July 2022. Mystikal, who is a lifetime registered sex offender, has a history of sexual assault allegations and was arrested in July with other individuals.
Mystikal, known for his 2000 song “Shake Ya (Expletive)”, was arrested on September 8 and charged with first-degree rape and battery. He was previously sentenced to six years in prison in 2004 for forcing his hairstylist to perform sex acts. He served the full six years of his sentence and was released on January 14, 2010.
Mystikal was previously signed to Master P’s No Limit Records in the ’90s and was sentenced to six years in prison in 2004 after pleading guilty to sexual battery. He would be formally indicted in September 2022 and is facing a mandatory life prison sentence if convicted of the first-degree rape charge.
Mystikal was indicted in 2017 on rape and kidnapping charges and spent 18 months in jail before being released on a $3 million bond. He pleaded guilty to sexual battery later in 2003 and served six years in prison.
Mystikal has been accused of rape twice in the past two decades and has been arrested and booked into the Ascension Parish Jail. His attorney Joel Pearce says she needs more time to prepare a defense and is seeking more time to prepare a defense.

Towards anyone who is defending mystikal i do like his music but 3 allegations if this was his first case i would okay maybe he’s innocent but multiple times now something is wrong here lots of red flags i hope he wouldnt do something like this to any women but you gotta be a realest her multiple cases this isnt his first rape charge at this point its really hard to defend Mystikal which is sad because i was a fan of his music i grew up listening to this guy theres an old saying fool me once shame on you fool me twice shame on me basically im saying at this point i cant give Mystikal the benefit of the doubt in my opinion he has let his fans down and most of he let himself down
Man y can’t he just get a girlfriend marry her and chill, he keep getting in this same situation, btw the actual indictment ftom the grand jury happens just because somebody accuses you, that don’t mean nothing. It’s only them and the prosecutor, but how do u get charged 3 times and want ppl to believe u guilty! U clearly have a problem
He needs to be put in a strict rehabilitation facility for a year. Drugs are his problem which causes him to do things a normal person wouldn’t. I hope he has good people with deep pockets that care about him. Hopefully someone with a lot of influence will be able to convince a judge to send him to get the help he needs. He will always struggle but if he can get to that year and a half mark he should be able to stay clean.
