Mystic Eye, a powerful oracle and party game created in 1953 by Mister B Industries, is a hybrid power that combines aspects of both Mystic Eyes and Pure Eyes. It is classified as ESP and is designed to provide instant answers to questions, drawing out hidden inspiration. Ryougi, who uses her eyes, receives training from Touko and becomes more proficient at using them. Shiki, however, seals his eyes after acquiring them with Aoko’s help.
Mystic Eyes work like Single Action spells and are activated through magical energy. They are the proof of a first-class magus since they can be used to spell out messages or indicate quick answers. The game features a pendulum that can be held over the board and asks questions, with the motion of the pendulum carrying it over a dial containing “Yes”. The game can also be used to spell out messages like a Quija Board or indicate quick answers like a pendulum.
The game uses a “psycho-activated” pendulum and master chart to tap into the conscious, subconscious, and super-conscious mind to divine answers. The game offers 129 pages detailing prestige classes, feats, items, and more related to the hidden sects and schools from the Hunt: Rise of Evil setting. The pendulum points to an answer when held over the center of the board.
Despite its popularity, some questions remain about the limit of the ability and whether it can be used to protect against evil. The game is freelancing and is currently working on projects on Kickstarter.

How does eye-tracking work in games?
Eye movement is the process of discovering, observing, and tracking visual stimuli through the eyeball’s movement. Eye-tracking involves two aspects: observing the player’s gaze point and measuring their eye movements in real-time on a monitor. It helps researchers and designers understand which information the subject has looked at, which ones haven’t, and how long a certain information has been viewed.
Eye movement and attention distribution are closely related, and by observing these trajectories and behaviors, researchers can restore reasons why players didn’t move in time, such as urgent incentives. Eye-tracking research can complement objective behavior data and help researchers and designers optimize interfaces and prompts.
How does the game before your eyes work?
The game follows the story of Benjamin Brynn, a recently deceased man on his journey to the afterlife. The player controls Brynn’s memories through an eye-tracking webcam, which reads and responds to the player’s eye movement and blinking. The narrative structure was inspired by the 1949 stage play Death of a Salesman, which portrays the story partly through the protagonist’s memories.
Benjamin Brynn, unable to speak or gesture, is picked up by a boat helmed by the Ferryman. The Ferryman perceives Brynn’s blinking, which becomes his primary mode of communication. If deemed worthy, Brynn will be brought to the Gatekeeper for judgement. If deemed worthy, Brynn will be allowed to enter the Gatekeeper’s paradise and be rewarded, or he will be turned into a seagull.
The Ferryman asks Brynn to recount his memories to help him tell a tale for the Gatekeeper. However, Brynn cannot stay within the memories, as they flash forward as soon as he blinks. The game’s narrative was well-received by critics, but the functionality of its eye-tracking feature received criticism.
How does mystic eyes of death perception work?
Tohno Shiki possesses the Mystic Eyes of Death Perception, which allows him to see the death of things through black lines and points. These lines represent places where a substance breaks easily, while the points are death itself. If a line is cut, the main body will die, never to move again, and piercing a point will stop an individual from functioning completely.
Seeing lines requires extreme concentration, but it is more accurate to say they are reading the lifespan of a substance, the existential limit determined at the moment of creation. Shiki’s eyes were originally meant to “see that which cannot be seen”, but after two near-death experiences, he was connected to the Root, and his brain began to comprehend death itself. This allows him to perceive death through his mystic eyes and brain working together.
Sider and Gilgamesh have physical bodies in Fate/Stay Night, but Shiki can also see lines on them when they are in spiritual bodies. For example, if an opponent can be recognized as “living” (not “life”, but “live”), she can see the lines of death. For example, the ghosts in Overlooking View were dead, but they were “living” in the sense that they could interfere with the current world.
Shiki’s ability to see lines on opponents in spiritual bodies is not limited to physical bodies. For example, the ghosts in Overlooking View were dead, but they were “living” in the sense that they could interfere with the current world. To kill an opponent by the lines of death, she must decipher advanced “lines of death” levels higher than the normal concept of death. However, bones can turn into “living” objects, allowing Shiki to see the lines of death.
In summary, the Mystic Eyes of Death Perception is an unusual talent that allows Tohno Shiki to see the death of things through black lines and points. This ability is not limited to physical bodies, but can be used even when opponents are recognized as “living”.
How does eye tracking work?
Tobii Dynavox eye trackers use near infrared light to detect your eyes, which are then reflected in your eyes. The eye tracker’s cameras pick up these reflections, which are then processed through filtering and calculations to determine your location. The technology has undergone extensive research to ensure its simplicity and unobtrusive operation. To ensure accurate eye tracking, a calibration is required, which involves measuring how your eyes reflect light. This is done by following a point or video on the screen, and combining the data with a unique 3D eye model.
What senses are lost at death?
Research indicates that even as the body transitions into unconsciousness, it is possible to still feel comforting touches from loved ones and hear them speaking. Touch and hearing are the last senses to go when we die. Changes in breathing patterns can signal how close we are to death. Regular, steady breaths are a sign of life and good health, while unpredictable breathing is often a sign of failing health or death. As death nears, you may go for longer periods without breathing.
A “death rattle” may be made when you breathe due to saliva build-up in your throat. During death, vital functions stop entirely, including the heart, breath, and brain. Brain activity may continue several minutes after a person is declared dead, but it doesn’t mean they are aware of their death.
What if you never blink in Before Your Eyes?
The passage indicates that the text commenced a relatively short time ago, perhaps only a few minutes.
What does the evil eye mean in a mystic?
Rabbi Abraham Isaac Kook explains that the evil eye is a concept that highlights how one’s soul can affect another through unseen connections. It is influenced by our environment and can be venomous, resulting from malignant feelings of jealousy and envy. Many observant Jews avoid discussing valuable items, good luck, and their children, avoiding the phrase “b’li ayin hara” or “keyn eyn-hore” (no evil eye). Another way to ward off the evil eye is to spit three times, known as “despuere malum” (spit at evil).
Rituals surrounding birth and young children often center around protection from the evil eye, such as textile neckbands worn by boys for their brit milah. These neckbands often have a central coin or colorful coral to draw the evil eye away and protect them during circumcision.
Christianity’s beliefs of the evil eye can be found in passages of the Bible, such as Luke 11:34, where Jesus refers to the eye as the lamp of the body. If a person’s eye is generous, their whole body will be full of light, while if it is evil, their whole body will be full of darkness.
How does death perception work?
Death Perception is a perk in Create-A-Class that grants an orange outline of nearby enemies through walls, similar to a thermal optic. It also applies bonus damage to special enemy weak points when selected as the “Modifier” perk. Death Perception is unlocked by default and can be applied to the player’s Perk loadout to appear in any map. It can also be obtained randomly through Secret Sauce and other Perk-based rewards and items within the game.
What does mystic eyes do?
Mystic Eyes are a supernatural power concentrated in the eyes, allowing them to interfere with the outer world through sight alone. They are the oldest known magecraft, derived from neither ritual nor study. Similar abilities exist, such as Mystic Face, possessed by Diarmuid Ua Duibhne. Mystic Eyes work like Single Action spells and are activated through magical energy. They are proof of a first-class magus due to their great power and easy concealment. They have their own Magic Circuits, allowing them to produce magical energy and cast spells independently.
What are the best mystic eyes?
Mystic Eyes, a powerful supernatural power, are ranked according to the Noble Colors. Red or green eyes are normal, while Gold-Class eyes are stronger and typically held by vampires. The most powerful are either Jewel or Rainbow-Class, with Death Perception being the only Rainbow one. The higher the power, the rarer they are. Many characters possess Mystic Eyes, such as Ryougi in Garden of Sinners and Touko Aozaki in Witch on the Holy Night.
Lord El Melloi II’s Case Files is a must-watch for fans interested in these powers and their use in action. The story revolves around the Rail Zeppelin, a train that collects Mystic Eyes, and follows a grown-up Waver Velvet teaching Modern Magecraft theory and taking on magical-related investigations.
How accurate is eye tracking?
The accuracy of a smartphone eye tracker was found to be comparable to Tobii glasses, with similar results in hand-held settings. Eye movements offer a direct way to measure overt spatial attention and have been considered a window into the brain and mind. Understanding eye movements has been central to research in attention and visual processing in the brain, including focus areas such as visual search, scene perception, and reading.
Eye tracking has been used for decades as a reliable way to measure eye movements. However, research and applications have been limited by the high cost of eye trackers and their inability to scale due to the use of specialized hardware. There are cheaper eye tracking solutions available for desktops but not for mobile screens, and little is known about eye movement behavior on small smartphone displays.
Recent estimates show over 2. 8 billion smartphone users worldwide, with nearly twice as much time spent consuming content on mobile devices as desktop/laptop in the US and exceeding time spent watching TV. Accurate and affordable eye tracking on smartphones could enable significant advances in eye movement research by providing orders-of-magnitude scaling and generating insights across diverse populations. This could unlock applications across vision research, accessibility, and healthcare.

I think people underestimate Shiki is because in FGO even though she’s a 5* SSR she’s lacking in comparison to others in her tier and lower as a consequence of being released when the game was still relatively new. If people actually knew more of the lore they’d understand that she is broken. Really right up their with Old Man Hassan if not more. Void Shiki really does need a buff in game.
How would the Shikis work in a fight against Berserker? Like, would one stab immedietly take away all of God Hands lives or would it still take 12 kills? Would he begin to gain a resistance if it does? I assume it would bypass the A rank NP check. Or if they were to fight Gilgamesh, when killing any of his fired GOB Noble phantasms, would they not return to the GOB thus rendering him unable to use them for atleast the rest of the war? To take it further when talking about the Shikis vs servants, is it possible for them to permanently kill a servant from the throne of heroes?
As question: In Heaven’s Feels route, hypothetically, if Shirou still had Saber as his Servant to the point in that he lost his arm and Archer transplanted his arm on Shirou, i wonder if Avalon to full power for Saber, would helped more Shirou to deals with the power of Archer’s arm, whether for control it and/or to reduces the risks of die for it?
Well damn, my boi Shirou can’t seem to hold a W against any of the other protagonists. He lost to Bazette in the first round of the Protagonist Battle, where due to Fragarath he stood no chance, and now he pretty much Auto loses to Shiki as well. This also neglects Kiritsugu might be able to speed blitz him with Time Alter, Illya overpowering him because Magical Girls are innately powerful in concept and Ritsuka could overwelm him with Shadow Servants and may very well know what he’s capable of because he met Heroic Spirit Emiya. Seig may pull another Deux ex Machina on him to somehow win and most other Protagonists are either extremely skilled or got bullshit abilites. It be hard for Shirou fans entering a versus debate I tell ya. Like he got one of the coolest skillsets in the verse (In My Opinion) and is definately my favourite character in Fate but man, seems we gotta sleep on my boi ’cause he really don’t stand much of a chance against these guys.
I had good laugh that people clearly underestimate Shiki Tohno and Shiki Ryougi these two are literal deathbringers and they can solo’d the entire Nasuverse if given an opportunity. If anyone can recall also, when Shiki Ryougi in MELTY BLOOD Actress Again Current Code facing the True Ancestor form of Arcueid before facing one another. That Shiki Ryougi stated “However the outcome, the dream is over. As long it is even alive, I will show you even the gods fall under my knife.” As long as they can see meaning and purpose in things all persons, objects, and inanimate objects they simply kill the meaning with the slash of the knife. As much I like the characters of Shirou Emiya and Archer Emiya there simply no way that they can beat the Mystic of eyes death perception it would be literal suicide even with all the tools and prep time their weapons would be render useless. Shiki Tohno would not want kill for fun he would rather live a peaceful life if possible, if it force his hand then will end it if necessary. As Shiki Ryougi would actually do it for the fun of it and take no crap from no one.
Watched your mystic eyes article a bit late. I think one aspect that might have been looked over is Shirou’s inherent ability to analyze weapons and some other structures at a glance. In Fate, UBW, and HF, shirou was able to replicate the weapons structure, crafting method, the amount of experience it acquired over its life, the crafting materials involved, and some more thing. Even Rin respected his certainty and analysis on almost each route, heck Shirou was even pivotal in helping disassemble riders np at the school and recognizing the inmate risk of rule breaker every time he saw it. Feats which even Rin couldn’t accomplish normally. It can be safe to say that this level of analysis is unique to shirou, possibly related to his origin or more likely powered by UBW. If you wanted to split hairs, that ability might be tied to his eyes, very similar to mystic eyes of a very specialized nature. I mean it’s a strong stretch in logic, but I think it’s a good rabbit hole to think on. It’s possible that analysis of structures is an inherent part of reinforcement magecraft too. I enjoy your articles, would enjoy seeing you take a look at a doujin game called Battle Moon Wars. It’s essentially a mashup tactics game styled after super robot wars. Pretty much all of the extended tsukihime and fate cast get pulled from their universes to battle it out in a very loving and detailed fan work.
To be honest i think the best way for Shirou to win against someone with those eyes would be by using a Broken Phantasm, both Shikis are fast but they still have a limit so if Shirou used Hrunting for example he could be able to one shot them even if they saw it coming due to how fast it is. Using UBW would be like beging them to kill him, they can just cut UBW’s death lines and kill Shirou’s inner world which would probably kill Shirou too or at the very least make him unable to keep using projections for the rest of his life.
Yes 😂 if there is a concept it can be destroyed in the fgo with mystic eyes of death perception there are exceptions but its argubly the most absurd ability in fate it basically breaks all the laws in the series by simply cutting lines most people cant regenerate plus if you find the weak point it can be destroyed
How would Shiki’s Mystic eyes interact with a power being from a seperate created existence entirely that operates under fundamentally seperate rules which he ascends? How would such a conceptual death ability restrained in her verse react to somebody like say Wang Ling from Daily Life of the Immortal King? Probably not as nearly effective as it would usually intend to be. After it’s still bound in a world with it’s own set of rules and it is dealing with a entirely outsider being who is quite powerful himself.
Not related to the article but I just had a question about servants parameters. I read somewhere that each rank is equivelant to 10 humans. Like E=10, D=20. I remember reading it was like 10 strongest human but others said it was 10 average human. The thing is would the time a servant is summoned effect how strong their vessel is? Like if it was going by average human and the humans in the age of the gods were stronger than the ones in the age of man would the servants in the age of God’s have be stronger than those summoned in the age of man despite their parameters being the same due to the difference of how strong the humans there are? This question came to mind when I was rewatching some of your old articles and you pointed out that while Quezelcoatl had lower strength parameter she showed greater physical strength feat than Sigurd and Asterious.
Tsiah, have you read the fanmade crossover Type Moon Complex X? Because in that series the Tsukihime cast dogwalks the Fate cast for half the story, including a scene where Shiki Tohno scares the shit out of Shirou and all his friends after destroying UBW. It caused a lot of controversy and arguments in the fandom, from Shiki making mincemeat of Berserker with no difficulty to Ciel destroying Rider. I think it would be interesting if you made a review of it.
One thing I still wonder (and before the article started I thought it was an easy win for the Mystic Eyes) is could either of the Shikis use their Mystic Eyes of Death Perception to apply death to the mental concept that brings forth reality marbles in the first place? We know reality marbles are a mental projection of the caster onto the world and we have both Shikis applying death to “nature” and appendicitis so would it be THAT much of a stretch for them to apply death to a very hardened mental state of a person? I just imagine a funny what if story where one of the Shikis apply death to the mental state of Shirou that allows him to cast UBW in the first place and after they do their thing Shirou goes from being Shirou to being this normal, non-survivor’s guilt dude I guess somewhat close to the Prisma Illya (not Miyuverse) version of him lol
You know i have a crack theory about the shikies. So like a noble phantasm is created from legends about a person. So like maybe in 1000 years the legend of shiki tht is able to cut through anything with their knife, wouldn’t Shirou be able to trace that and have a knife that are able to cut anything
