How To Experience Ethereal Visions?

The concept of a mystical experience is a powerful spiritual experience that can be deeply transformative. It involves the mind receiving an extraordinary grasp of revealed truth without the aid of a robe or crystal ball. Mystical experiences, or “the mystic’s vision”, occur by the Grace of God and at its highest level uplift one’s individual consciousness to union with the divine. These experiences are not for show casing or demonstration purposes but rather to educate the seeker on spiritual matters.

In this comprehensive guide, Ann-Kathrin, a spirituality teacher at Mindvalley, shares five things that can help become a mystic. Visions of God have fascinated people for centuries, and these powerful spiritual experiences can be deeply transformative. Intellectual visions, defined as supernatural knowledge in which the mind receives an extraordinary grasp of some revealed truth without the aid of a robe or crystal ball, are a significant aspect of modern psychology.

Mystical use has also been made of hypnagogic states, which immediately precede sleep. To become a mystic, one must enrich their consciousness within the present moment and learn to become aware of everything they do, say, and think. Mystical experiences are not for show casing or demonstration purposes, but rather to uplift one’s individual consciousness to union with the divine.

How can you tell if someone is a mystic?

Mystics, as a term used to describe someone who is out of touch with reality, are actually those who have gotten in touch with what is real. They possess powerful receptivity and sympathy, are porous, and can stretch beyond their protective ego. They are often courageous and find ethical opportunities out of this wide stretch.

Other people can be ordinary mystics, experiencing moments of mystical moments that extend their boundaries and increase empathy with others. These moments can occur in various aspects of life, such as art, parenting, creativity, and personal growth. As the mystical moments multiply, individuals become less prone to self-protection and have a greater empathy for the world around them.

If religion is defined as a strong sense of the divine, daily mysticism contributes to this sense by drawing individuals out of themselves and into nature and beyond. This perspective highlights the importance of embracing the mystical moments and the potential for personal growth and connection with the divine.

What are spiritual eyes?

The spiritual eye, a visible light behind closed eyes, allows deep meditators to gaze into subtler realms and enter the Spirit beyond creation. Focusing on the spiritual eye during daily life keeps the mind uplifted, as the center of consciousness becomes the heart rather than egos. The spiritual eye is located between the eyebrows or just behind the sixth chakra in the brain. It is not a physical object but a visible light reflecting cosmic energy entering the body. The cosmic energy’s portal of entry to the body is the medulla oblongata at the base of the brain. Focusing on this point in meditation raises consciousness and enhances upliftment.

What are the three types of mystics?

R. C. Zaehner categorizes mysticism into three main types: theistic, monistic, and panenhenic. Theistic mysticism includes Jewish, Christian, Islamic, and Hindu mysticism, while monistic mysticism is based on the unity of one’s soul and includes Buddhism and Hindu schools like Samkhya and Advaita vedanta. Nature mysticism refers to non-categorised examples.

Walter Terence Stace distinguished two types of mystical experiences: extrovertive and introvertive mysticism. Extrovertive mysticism involves the unity of the external world, while introvertive mysticism is an experience of unity devoid of perceptual objects. Unity in extrovertive mysticism is with the totality of objects of perception, while in introvertive mysticism, unity is with a pure consciousness. These experiences are nonsensical and nonintellectual, suppressing the whole empirical content.

Stace argues that doctrinal differences between religious traditions are inappropriate criteria for cross-cultural comparisons of mystical experiences. Mysticism is part of the process of perception, not interpretation, and the unity of mystical experiences is perceived and only interpreted according to the perceiver’s background. This may result in different accounts of the same phenomenon, such as an atheist describing unity as “freed from empirical filling” and a religious person describing it as “God” or “the Divine”.

Can anyone become a mystic?

Mysticism is becoming increasingly popular as it is now accessible to anyone, integrating ancient wisdom into modern life. A mystic is an individual who strives to establish a profound and intimate connection with a transcendent entity, such as a deity or the universe itself, devoid of any romanticized notions or imagery.

How can I see vision spiritually?

In order to achieve a state of spiritual awareness, it is recommended that the individual should close their eyes and engage in a process of prayer. This enables the individual to become attuned to the divine realm, which provides insights into the divine perspective. One should request wisdom, search for indications within the scriptural texts, maintain an attentive awareness of spiritual phenomena, and engage in discourse regarding the perceptions that emerge.

Do mystics have powers?

St. Teresa of Avila, a prominent mystic, was known for her ecstasies, or raptures, which she experienced frequently. She would drop to the floor and spend hours frozen, supposedly incapable of speech. She claimed to speak with angels or God during these raptures, which was a controversial claim due to the Inquisition. Some believed that the devil would cause her to thrash uncontrollably, while others believed she might become cataleptic when her wishes were thwarted. On rare occasions, she was said to have levitated, a phenomenon to be examined later.

What do mystics see?

Mystics believe that their experiences reveal an extrasensory dimension of reality, which is phenomena that cannot be detected through sense perception. They differ significantly from ancient and Hellenistic philosophers in their claims about extrasensory realities. Ancient and Hellenistic philosophers like Pythagoras, Plato, Aristotle, and Stoic philosophers provided examples of the reality of the extrasensory.

These examples include the numbers and mathematical formulas of Pythagoras, the forms of Plato and Aristotle, and the Stoic concept of the lekton or “saying”. These examples demonstrate that numbers and mathematical formulas exist objectively, while the Aristotelian concept of universals builds from sensory evidence to concepts about these things. The concept of color, for example, concerns an extrasensory phenomenon, color in general, or color in the abstract.

All laws of nature describe interactions or relationships among perceptible things, but they are not themselves sensible or perceptible. For example, Newton’s third law of motion illustrates how the mind conceptualizes processes of action and reaction, equality and opposition, and attraction and repulsion. Emotional relationships, such as honor and revenge, are perceived by the mind through abstraction from complex physical interactions.

Mystics make claims about extrasensory dimensions of reality, similar to physical scientists citing physics laws or psychologists positing emotional complexes that govern healthy and morbid responses to events. During mystical experiences, extrasensory phenomena are said to be directly perceived by the soul, mind, imagination, or other faculty. These phenomena may be impersonal or personal, reflecting the medieval description of the extrasensory as “spiritual”, a usage that is reflected in the German word Geist (“intellect” or “spirit”).

How do you practice mysticism?

How do you practice mysticism?

Mystics are individuals who claim to reach a transcendent state, experiencing visions, dreams, revelations, prophecies, supernatural voices, and ecstatic trance states. They pursue this goal through prayer, meditation, contemplation, fasting, abstinence, and self-denial. Some cultures, like Native American mystics, may use mind-altering substances, spirit journeying, trance dancing, chanting, and ritual. Catherine of Siena, an Italian mystic and theologian, was deeply involved in political matters and authored Dialogues on Divine Providence, letters, and prayers.

She mediated disputes and believed in God as united with the soul from creation. Mystics may also use mind-altering substances, spirit journeying, trance dancing, chanting, and ritual to facilitate their experience.

What causes mystical experiences?

What causes mystical experiences?

Mystical experiences in reverie states can be triggered by the use of hallucinatory or psychedelic substances or drugs, such as ergot, LSD, peyote, San Pedro cactus, psilocybin-bearing mushrooms, and marijuana. These substances create alternate states of consciousness that may lead to mystical experiences through prayer, meditation, visualization, or other religious activity. The “Good Friday Experiment” in 1962, conducted by Walter Pahnke at Harvard University, established that when both mental and physical “setting” are arranged to encourage a mystical experience, it occurs with a 90% probability.

Set and setting influence the contents of all mystical techniques. Requiring would-be mystics to practice austerities and meditate for several years before attaining a mystical experience motivates them to have highly disciplined, doctrinally orthodox experiences. Providing easy access to mystical experiences necessitates greater doctrinal tolerance of varied experiences. William James introduced the term “overbeliefs” to explain the contents of mystical experiences that reflect doctrinal expectations rather than the immediate or spontaneous features of the experiences themselves.

Many auxiliary practices serve as overbeliefs, such as ethical behavior, doctrinal preparation, asceticism, gymnastics, isolation, diet, drumming, dance, and rituals. Another category of overbelief is a mystic’s emotional attachment to their teacher.

  • Last year during the 40 days of lent, I prayed the Rosary for the children in the country i live in and those in government pushing destructive ideologies and laws on childhood. When i had finished praying the 40 day Rosary, this is the imaginative vision i received from God; There was a sky with layers of thick dark gray clouds blocking out the light. Then i could see a hand, as if hidden embedded in the clouds, pulling them back to a circular opening where above the clouds was the most beautiful blue sky. Rays of light were streaming down to earth through this opening and underneath was a group of children bathed in the light all stretching their arms up to the opening. This vision filled me with so much hope, i knew i did not merit it any way and God was giving me this to let me know that i must continue to pray, because He answers our prayers. A few days later, and i will leave the details out, but a law the government was going to introduce was blocked. I will add here that this proposed legislation along with the relentless pushing of these ideas by those in power and media had made me angry. Then one day i thought i am doing no good here whatsoever, it was then i decided to commit to praying the Rosary. I believe many in my country were called to pray against the proposed law. I still pray for this situation and i have made it my Lenten Rosary this year too. I dont expect more visions, because now i know Jesus, Mary will answer our prayers. We may not see the results, but that doesn’t matter.
