Chakra meditation is generally considered safe when done gradually with proper guidance. However, it can be dangerous if not approached properly. Imbalances or blockages in any of the chakras are linked to physical or mental health problems. Chakra meditation helps realign the chakras and bring about changes in breathing patterns, nausea or headaches, pain or anxiety, and hallucinations.
Chakra balancing practices are considered safe, but there is no evidence to support long-term negative effects. Opening chakras can create confusion and disorientation, and gurus may only create more trouble and chaos. There are many books and kits related to chakra balancing, but there are also potential side effects such as changes in breathing patterns, nausea or headaches, pain or anxiety, and hallucinations.
Kundalini is not to be feared, but to be respected. It destroys everything you believe to be true about yourself, but at the same time, it is not to be feared. Opening chakras only at your own risk is a healthier, safer, and wiser way to deal with chakra blockages.
The good news is that half-hearted attempts via YouTube chakra meditations are probably harmless, as the body and mind are well-protected. However, the danger of overstimulation is that when we meditate for too long, playing with kundalini fire, chakras, and breathing exercises, it can result in negative effects on our health.

What are the negative effects of the chakras?
Chakras are energy centers in the body that impact our emotional and physical well-being. Some believe that blockages in these centers can lead to health issues like stress, depression, and anxiety. Research on the existence of chakras is limited, but they are believed to be interconnected with emotional and physical health. Chakras are wheel-like energy centers that affect physiological and emotional functions, and are also influenced by emotions, lifestyle choices, and thoughts. Experiencing anxiety can interfere with navigating the world and relationships, and is a natural response to stressors.
Is chakra meditation harmful?
Chakra meditation is generally safe when done gradually with proper guidance. However, individuals with heart disease and other serious physical illnesses should avoid it unless closely supervised by an experienced meditation teacher. Chakra meditation produces physiological and psychological changes in the mind, body, and spirit. Unsafe or incorrect practices can lead to unexpected side effects.
What are the contraindications for chakra meditation?
Chakrasana pose is beneficial for stretches and strengthening the spine, back muscles, and ligaments, preventing back pain, improving mobility, and supporting the nervous system. However, it is contraindicated for individuals with spine injuries, slipped discs, hernias, or sciatica, as it can cause further damage or pain. To practice safely, listen to your body and avoid pushing yourself beyond your limits. If you experience discomfort or pain, gently exit the pose and rest. Chakrasana also expands your chest and increases lung capacity, enhancing energy, vitality, and immunity.
What happens when you do chakra meditation?
Chakra meditation has been demonstrated to be an efficacious method for the management of anxiety. It has been shown to facilitate the relaxation of the mind, the alleviation of stress, and the promotion of emotional equilibrium. By concentrating on particular chakras, such as the root chakra for security or the heart chakra for emotional stability, it is possible to identify and address the underlying causes of anxiety.
What will happen if 7 chakras are open?
The seven chakras are the center points of all energy in the human body, as mentioned in ancient meditation practices and found popular with the increasing interest in yoga. Chakras, which translates to “wheel”, are spinning discs of energy that correspond to major organs, bundles, or nerves, and areas related to our emotional well-being.
There are at least 114 chakras in the human body, but the main ones usually referred to are the 7 main ones. Each chakra corresponds to a focus on a particular health. Specific areas of the spine from the crown of the head to the sacrum are focused on manipulating the subtle energy flow through the 7 chakras of the human body.
The root chakra (Muladhara) is located in the tailbone area at the base of your spine and has the responsibility for your well-being, stability, and security. If your root chakra is blocked, it may manifest as physical issues in your colon, bladder, joints (arthritis), and intestinals. An unbalanced root chakra may also make you feel emotionally insecure about your well-being, finances, or basic needs. When it is balanced and in alignment, you will start feeling more grounded and in control of your emotions as well as your physical health.
The sacral chakra (Svadhisthana) is linked to your emotional well-being and creative energy, and it is also seen as an energy point for others’ emotions. If the Svadhisthana chakra becomes unbalanced, you may experience impotency, lower back pain, urinary tract infections, and a feeling of self-worth around creativity, sexuality, and pleasure. Improving this chakra can balance your lifestyle completely.
The solar plexus chakra (Nabhi-Manipura) is located in the stomach region (upper abdomen) and represents self-esteem and confidence. Controlling this chakra to make it balanced is getting back control of your life in your hand. A balanced Nabhi-Manipura chakra ensures that you interact with society with utmost confidence.
The heart chakra (Anahata) emphasizes love and is affected by two types of issues: physical health through matters related to cardio and people’s emotions (heartbreak). An unbalanced heart chakra may cause issues with your throat and voice, as well as any ailment related to your mouth, gums, or teeth.
The third eye chakra (Ajna) is located on the forehead, in between the eyes, and represents gut instinct and intuition. When unbalanced, it may manifest as headaches, hearing issues, concentration problems, and problems with eyesight. Once open, you will be able to see the big picture of any and all situations you come across.
Lastly, the crown chakra (Sahasrara) represents the spiritual connection you have with yourself, others around you, and the universe or nature. Balancing the crown chakra is a step towards figuring out the purpose of life, as it affects not just your organs but also your nervous system and brain.
The 7 chakras are the seven energy centers of the human body, representing various physical health and emotional states. When imbalanced, these chakras can lead to anxiety, depression, musculoskeletal issues, and various illnesses and diseases. To balance the chakras, one can adopt activities such as meditation, breathing exercises, and yoga postures.
Chakras provide subtle energy that improves intellect, work, mind, and organs. Ancient Yogic practices recommended certain activities to activate the 7 chakras, which provide a sense of mindfulness within the individual. Medical studies have not yet determined the connection between spiritual power and chakras, but they do bring a sense of mindfulness.
Unblocking the chakras involves balancing them in such a way that energy flows through every aspect of the body. For those new to uncovering the 7 chakras, the root chakra is the best place to start. Scientifically, there is no evidence of the benefits of the root chakra, but it can help individuals feel grounded, secure, and safe.
To bring an imbalanced chakra back to alignment, one can adopt activities such as meditation, breathing exercises, and yoga postures. Yogashala offers certified yoga instructors or reiki practitioners who are experienced in energy healing to guide individuals through this process.
In summary, the 7 chakras represent the energy centers of the human body and can be reactivated through yoga practices. By focusing on the root chakra, individuals can experience a more profound connection with themselves and the world around them.
Can meditation have negative effects?
The Western world has long been aware of the potential negative effects of meditation, with Arnold Lazarus stating in 1976 that it could induce serious psychiatric problems. While mindfulness can potentially improve wellbeing, its coaches, videos, apps, and books often fail to warn people about potential adverse effects. Ronald Purser, a professor of management and ordained Buddhist teacher, argues that mindfulness has become a “capitalist spirituality”.
In the US alone, meditation is worth $2. 2 billion. Jon Kabat-Zinn, a key figure in the mindfulness movement, admits that 90% of research on its positive impacts is subpar. Despite this, Kabat-Zinn suggests that mindfulness meditation can transform individuals, communities, societies, nations, and species.
What is chakra virus?
The disease impedes the functioning of the chakra network, preventing the release or transformation of chakra from the body. This signifies that Ninjutsu and Genjutsu cannot be employed when an individual is afflicted with illness. The meteorite serves to unclog the chakra network by forcing open the chakra points.
Which chakra is blocked by trauma?
The Sacral Chakra, linked to creativity and emotions, can be blocked by trauma, causing emotional numbness. Engaging in art, dance, or self-expression can rekindle this chakra’s fire. The Solar Plexus Chakra, our confidence realm, can be diminished by deep wounds and pain points caused by trauma. Practices of self-love, setting healthy boundaries, and empowering activities can reignite this chakra’s inner spark.
The Heart Chakra, governing love and compassion, can be reformed by engaging in connection with others, finding the value of interdependence, practicing gentleness, and engaging in heart-opening practices. These practices can lead to significant relational improvements and healing from trauma.
Can your chakras hurt?
A flowing and resilient chakra system is essential for optimal functioning, according to Aktekin. This system should know when to open or close, rotate or not, and avoid getting stuck in a certain position, preventing imbalances. A lack of flow can manifest as heaviness, discomfort, numbness, and sometimes pain in the body. Pain in an area may correspond to an area of life that isn’t flowing optimally, and stagnation due to a blocked chakra can affect interpersonal relationships and career performance.
Emotions are felt and stored in the body, including complex patterns related to traumas and stresses. These areas of discomfort and pain can be opportunities for finding other ways to engage with life. Chakras can be an important part of an inner guidance system.
Can a blocked chakra make you sick?
Root chakra imbalances can manifest as physical symptoms in various areas such as the legs, feet, rectum, tailbone, and immune system, leading to degenerative arthritis, knee pain, sciatica, eating disorders, and constipation. Emotional imbalances affect basic survival needs like money, shelter, and food. Blocked energy in the Svadhisthana chakra, located two inches below the navel, is responsible for sensuality, vitality, and fluidity.
Physical symptoms of blocked energy include sexual and reproductive issues, urinary problems, kidney dysfunctions, and hip, pelvic, and low back pain. Emotional symptoms include struggles with relationships, emotional expression, and feelings of impotence, betrayal, or addiction.
How do you know if a chakra is blocked?
Blocked energy in Vishuddha can manifest as throat issues, thyroid issues, sore throat, laryngitis, ear infections, ulcers, facial problems, neck and shoulder pain, and emotional symptoms like feeling out of control. In Anja, the sixth chakra responsible for intuition and insight, blocked energy can manifest as headaches, blurred vision, sinus issues, eyestrain, seizures, hearing loss, hormone dysfunctions, moodiness, volatility, and self-reflection. It is common to struggle to look at one’s own fears and learn from others when experiencing a third eye chakra imbalance.

My brother was doing meditation for a year to heal his ulcerative colitis. Initially he said that he can stay without food. He can control his food and water. He started speaking a lot. He started getting angry. Started to beat. He could lift things. He broke glasses. Became uncontrollable. He landed in mental hospital. With gods grace with medicine. He is out of the hospital. Is it something to do with kundalini. He used to say that his this chakra is awakened. He used to keep quite and smile all time. He says that he feels good about it. And enjoys ananda. Can someone help him. I feel he is gifted.
I’m new to this so excuse me ignorance if I mention something that’s incorrect. I’ve heard of Christians saying that this experience is why they stopped doing yoga and called it demonic. I’m wondering it has to do with not being ready to witness what the spiritual world is or feels like. I mean the Bible says we’d die if we saw God. That should tell you at least that the spirit world is hard to process all at once and you could even die. That’s why it’s said to check your emotional health and do shadow work before tapping deeper. It’s scary.
I’ve had terrible kundalini syndrome and I’m only lucky that it hasn’t negatively affected my mind . I’m very open to things so things like having past life memories from about 30 lifetimes come in (I was responsible for killing one of my children I also have this lifetime at only the age of 3 in one of my other lives) or seeing things like reptilian beings etc etc hasnt been much of an issue to me. All that matters none unless I’m attacked then I’m bothered (I only get bothered if Im hurt). The reptilians thou stay out of their way as long as I leave them alone. I’ve had someone shape shift right in front of me, loose his form and show what he was but not realized we’d really seen him (the clairvoyance or whatever it was that day transfered over to the one I was standing next to so she saw the reptilian too as she was affected by my energy. A strict Christian, she was less ready for this kind of thing so had after about 24 hrs of really freaking out over it, she unconsciously then protected her mind by convincing herself that we must have had a “group halluncination” lol . We dont take drugs or drink. (A reptilian tortured me once by using some kind of hand held laser object on my crown which gives unbelievable amounts of pain but it was only because I did something I should not have done which annoyed them as I’d wrongly believed they could not harm me so now I’m careful to have respect and care for all things. The reptilians are only one of the races I’ve experienced, there is so so many different ones out there.
