In Indian Vedic astrology, the combination of Ketu Antardasha during the Mahadasha of Jupiter (Guru) can bring about a unique blend of energies and influences. Ketu is considered a shadow planet and represents spirituality, mysticism, detachment, and a sense of detachment. Dasha, a term used to denote the period of the planets, indicates when good or bad effects are generated by their Sthiti (zodiac sign). The Guru mahadasha, a sixteen-year period of an individual’s life ruled by Jupiter, can have extensive good effects for some and equally bad results for others, depending on their natal chart.
The Mahadasa of Nine Planets is described in the Astrological classic “Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra”. The impact of a Dasha can be understood through various factors, such as the dasha period of a planet in the twelfth house, which can indicate endings, loss, and heightened awareness of hidden aspects of a person’s life.
The Mangal (Mars) antardasha during the Chandra (Moon) mahadasha can bring a combination of influences from Mars and the Moon. The Guru Mahadasha refers to the 16-year phase where Jupiter takes center stage and dominates one’s natal chart, influencing various aspects of life. A strong Jupiter placement indicates opportunities, prosperity, spirituality, social status, divine grace, intelligence, and knowledge.
In Vedic astrology, the Mahadasha of Jupiter, also known as Guru Mahadasha, typically lasts for 16 years and is considered a benefic period. The term Mahadasha is a combination of two Sanskrit words: Maha and Dasha.

How do you know if my Jupiter is strong or weak?
A weak Jupiter can negatively impact a person’s knowledge, societal reputation, and ability to dominate others. It can lead to societal suffering, lack of fame, and dominance. The location of Jupiter in a person’s birth chart determines how long they will enjoy progress. If Jupiter is weak, success or fame may come to an end quickly. In palmistry, the planet is represented by the index finger and the mountain below it.
If Jupiter is found to be weak, it is important to identify the signs that confirm this condition and consider remedies to help deal with the sin planet. By understanding the signs and remedies, individuals can better manage their Jupiter and achieve success in their life.
Which dosha is very bad?
Kaal Sarp Dosha is a highly significant and concerning Dosha in a person’s horoscope, believed to be a result of past karma. It can create problems, obstacles, and delays in various aspects of life, such as career, health, marriage, love, and relationships. The presence of Kaal Sarp Dosha can sometimes even be life-threatening.
The Kaalsarp Dosha is formed when Rahu and Ketu are present on one side of the horoscope, with all other planets in their midst. The main planets are Moon, Sun, Jupitar, Saturn, Mercury, Venus, and Mars, each ruling various aspects such as Lagna, wealth, happiness, children, disease, household, age, fortune, karma, profit, and love.
There are 12 different types of Kaal Sarp Doshas, each based on the placement of Rahu and Ketu in the horoscope. The Anant Kaalsarp Dosha is formed when Rahu is in the lagna or first house of the Kundli, and Ketu is in the 7th house. This dosh may cause a longer struggle for success, as the results may come after a delay. The Anant Kaalsarp dosha may test patience by introducing constant obstacles and challenges.
What are the remedies for Guru Mahadasha?
Vedic Astrology suggests that celestial bodies, such as Jupiter, have a profound influence on our lives. Jupiter, also known as ‘Brihaspati’ or ‘Jyotish’, is the guide of the gods and the largest planet in the solar system. It represents growth, wisdom, knowledge, and good fortune, and is associated with the ninth house, higher education, philosophy, and religious aspects. Jupiter is also the son of Maharishi Angira and is associated with the spiritual aspect of an individual.
What happens when Brihaspati is strong?
Jupiter, also known as Guru or Brihaspati in Vedic astrology, is the planet of learning and wisdom and the most favorable in the solar system. It is naturally strong in horoscopes, providing luck, wealth, happy relationships, and vast spiritual and practical knowledge. However, for some, it can cause laziness, over-indulgence, lack of success in business and relationships, and health problems like inflammation and dry skin. To activate Jupiter’s positive powers and reverse bad luck, one can wear yellow clothes, wear yellow sapphire jewelry, and consume yellow foods like turmeric and bananas.
On Thursdays, the day of Jupiter, one should take on important tasks and projects. This will bring balance to emotional and psychological dilemmas and soothe health problems in the blood, nerves, and reproductive system.
What does Guru mean in astrology?
Jupiter, also known as the Guru Graha or Guru or Brihaspati, is the planet of learning and wisdom. When placed in a favorable position in a horoscope, it can bring significant positive effects. A positive Jupiter is capable of overcoming other malefic planets, making it considered very lucky. However, it can also be placed in a weak position, causing Guru dosha or weak Jupiter, which can hinder its benevolent nature. Despite its benevolent nature, Jupiter can sometimes be placed in a weak position in a horoscope.
How do I get rid of Guru Dosha?
Guru Dosha Nivaran Puja is a Vedic service that involves praying to Lord Shiva and reverent teachers to calm an afflicted Jupiter. To perform this Puja, one should donate bananas, yellow clothes, salt, sugar, turmeric, kesar, yellow flowers, and food to Brahmins. Free consultations are available at the Rudra Centre. The service also includes 19000 Japas for Guru Dosha remedies to overcome the malefic effect.
Is Guru Dasha good or bad?
The 16-year “Guru Mahadasha” phase, dominated by Jupiter, is a significant aspect of Vedic Astrology, affecting various aspects of life. Positive effects include opportunities, prosperity, and spiritual growth, while negative effects can lead to impractical decisions, overindulgence, lack of focus, financial challenges, and philosophical shifts. Jupiter, the guide of the gods and the largest planet in the solar system, is associated with expansion, wisdom, knowledge, and good fortune.
It governs the ninth house, linked to higher education, philosophy, and religious aspects. In today’s materialistic world, everyone aspires for success, comfort, growth, fame, and fulfillment of their hard work.
What is Guru Dosha in astrology?
Guru Chandal Dosha is a birth chart combining Jupiter (Guru) and Rahu or Ketu (Chandal), representing wisdom, spirituality, and benevolence. When these planets clash, their energies may create unique ramifications, such as intellectual confusion, spiritual turmoil, career and financial challenges, and relationship struggles.
To mitigate the negative effects of the Dosha, individuals can worship Jupiter through prayers, mantras, and rituals, with devoting to Lord Vishnu being particularly auspicious. Engaging in acts of charity and service can appease the malefic influence of Rahu or Ketu, promoting positive karma and spiritual growth. Gemstone therapy, such as wearing a natural yellow sapphire or a yellow topaz, can enhance Jupiter’s positive vibrations and provide protection against the Dosha. Chanting the Jupiter Beej Mantra or Brihaspati Gayatri Mantra with sincerity and devotion can invoke Jupiter’s blessings and alleviate the Dosha’s adverse effects.
Astrological remedies, such as consulting a qualified astrologer for personalized remedies, can effectively address the Dosha’s challenges. By focusing on these remedies, individuals can overcome the challenges and achieve a more harmonious and fulfilling life.
In which house is Guru good?
Jupiter, also known as ‘Brihaspati’ or ‘Dev Guru,’ represents expansion, wisdom, and good fortune. Benefic placements of Jupiter in houses like the 1st, 2nd, 5th, and 7th bring optimism, wealth, creativity, and harmonious relationships. Jupiter is the largest planet in the solar system and is associated with growth, spirituality, and higher education. It governs the ninth house, which is associated with higher education, philosophy, and religious aspects.
A strong Jupiter placement in one’s natal chart signifies potential opportunities, prosperity, divine grace, intelligence, and knowledge, while a malefic placement can disrupt these aspects. Jupiter’s placement in the 1st House is considered beneficial.
How do I know if my Guru is weak?
What not to do in Guru Mahadasha?
Jupiter, the planet associated with Guru Mahadasha, can have negative impacts if placed in malefic houses, with Venus or Mercury, or receiving challenging aspects from Saturn, Mars, or Rahu. This can lead to impractical decisions, overindulgence, lack of focus, financial instability, and philosophical shifts. Remedies include worshipping Jupiter, wearing gemstones like Yellow Sapphire or Topaz, fasting on Thursdays, worshipping Lord Vishnu, and worshipping the Banana Tree.
Worshiping Jupiter can also help individuals avoid overeating, excessive spending, and lack of concentration. Additionally, fasting on Thursdays, which are associated with Jupiter, can be beneficial. To learn more about astrology, numerology, and Tarot, sign up for The Open Mind Astro Summit 2023.

Jupiter in my 12th house in Virgo, and one constant since 2014 when I was 21, has been my spiritual awakening and becoming more enlightened version of myself. I want to dedicate my life’s work to illuminating others lives and helping them become the best version of themselves. I am looking forward to a pilgrimage to India (at age 30) to train as a Yoga teacher and to learn Vedic Astrology on an authentic and elevated level so that I can serve the people of Africa through it by becoming an Astro Psychologist. I also want to go on a spiritual pilgrimage to Peru to take part in an Ayuhuasca Ceremony and to become more in tune with my higherself!! So totally
Analysis of Jupiter mahadasha was very informative. I am in Jupiter mahadasha nowadays ( from Dec 2019),in D1 Jupiter accupied 4th house alone in Libra sign,in D9 it is with Rahu and moon. I have getting an average results regarding finances,no job change, things working out very slowly .I am feeling a slower pace of life, till now( after aged 37 long years) not able to find life partner.not too bad or not too good phase is running in my life.
🏹 (Jupiter dasa will be “What your: “Thoughts + Feelings X Beliefs” = Our Frequency) ✨ (Jupiter traits: Optimism and Higher Mind are 🔑) Jupiter in ♏ 9th H, (🏹☀️/Saturn 28° 10th) I am in Jupiter dasa and so appreciating the beautiful energies! Intuition, Abundant Positive Energies, Feeling Divinely Supported, Unconditionally Loved, and Divinely Protected.
I am in this only 1.5 more years This is so cool! 1st house for me. Things have improved in my life. And GROWN! LOL My Jupiter is close to my northnode by 10° but it lands in my 12th house. Also in my 1st house are Mars and Saturn, but they are 20° away, so I am hoping that is enough distance to not take too much away.
You have described my experience exactly. 0 degree Jupiter in Virgo within 4 degrees conjunction of both Rahu and Mars. It has been over a decade and very little gain of the type Jupiter is supposed to deliver. Very discouraging to have the “positivity” planet in this weakened state, especially during the Dasha
I am currently going through Jupiter mahadasha… so far i have been gaining a lottt of knowledge…i have become soo religious and spiritual but the price i had to pay is my family…the constant fights have made me less creative and it went so bad to the point that if someone raises their voice my heart starts to beatfaster … i am a Aquarius ascendant…and my Jupiter is in 4th house and has a conjunction with saturn
I have been going through this Mahadasha, currently going through ketu antardasha and ended up in a psych ward for 3 months after my meditation went wrong. I read the description of ketu antardasha and lo and behold there was the mention of high chances of ending up in prison. have been meditating hardcore throughout this whole dasha. In lagna chart it is in my 1st house in Libra.
For me it’s been a nightmare for the last 6 years since it started, I have Jupiter exchanging with Saturn with Jupiter in Capricorn and Saturn in Pisces for Gemini Ascendant . It’s only been hell and topsy-turvy period . For me it started at 17 and it’s going to be there at the most important years of 17 to 32, been only stress . Still have another 9 years to go . Don’t know how bad it’s going to be from here cause I have been fighting a loosing battle for a long time .
I have Retrograde Jupiter in 2nd house – Capricorn ascendant. Saturn in 11th house. Sun and mercury in 8th house. Venus in 10th house. Rahu in 3rd house. Mars in 12th house. Moon and ketu in 9th house. Now Rahu Mahadasha is going -will end in 2024 October.. When will things be better. Will Jupiter mahadasha will be bad ??? Plz reply
Entered my Jupiter dasha beginning of last year (kinda rough and shocking experiences so far) Jupiter 25• along with Sun 20•, Rahu 23• R, Moon 15• & Mercury 6• all in 10th house in Sagittarius Ascendant Pisces in the 1st with no placed planets Also my Venus 27• 9th house in Scorpio with Neptune 12• & Mars 9• (stating this because I’m guessing since Venus is so close to the 10th it may be affecting?) No idea if this is good or bad with all these planets in the same house but I know my rahu dasha was absolutely rough!
As a disclaimer, I’m fairly new at this. This also sounds like a trick question but here goes. Conjunction -As indicated by its name, it is formed when two planets are on the same degree, or when they are very close to each other. The conjunction takes a positive or negative influence, depending on the other aspects formed. It can also be neutral. It may also depend on the nature of the two planets involved. Its function is to combine and blend the characteristics of the planets’ energies.
I’m 26years and I’m facing rahu mahadasha since 2008 and it will end in 2026, May I was a topper but still struggling with my career, I got into a relationship and then when i thought it’s the best period of my life and just after a few months when I got too attached i have faced a sudden break-up and then it got really bad for me, I became suicidal, depressed. Now I’m just waiting for Jupiter mahadasha, I hope things get better I have Rahu in my 3rd house and Conjunction of Jupiter, ketu and Venus in 9th house and I’m a Gemini ascendent.
On my 2nd phase of jupiter mahadasha with saturn antardasha. My jupiter is on 8th house with rahu, and I’m a scorpio ascendant. Still addicted to secret things like astrology, tarot, palmistry, numerology, etc also quit from college to find job, idk what would happen, but my intuition getting stronger day by day. Only hope for the better
I’m not sure if I’ve understood everything right. Both my Jupiter and Rahu sit in the 11th house, but in Taurus, which is not a good sign for Jupiter. They have no conjunction, they are far away from each others. Jupiter is the lord of my 6th house (Sagittarius) and the 9th house (Pieces). Jupiter mahadasha started to me in 2000. Well: I’ve had average success, I think. What I’ve done during this period is that I made my degree in the University of Technology, (finally,I’ve been slow), got a permanent workplace, earned money – not so much but not badly either, – traveled a lot (9th house) and I bought a flat so I took lots of loans, that were given to me easily (I think 6th house was working…). I can hardly wait for the Saturn-mahadasha to begin, because I really want to WORK on my own, put all the effort to my career. It starts next year in end of June. What I’ve been doing during this Jupiter-dasha, is not 100% and one reason for that is, that I’ve been a single mother, it took lots of my efforts. Now she is on her own and I am free. Last year started my Jupiter-Rahu anthardasha, I’ll see what it means. Maybe it means just what I said: I want to get more of life and I think its Rahu that is whispering to me. Also my friend died just before last Christmas and it made me think, what I really want to do in my life (Rahu opposes Ketu in the 5th house in Scorpio). She died only 1,5 years before she would have got retired (she is very much older than me). Some people work all their lives and then they die before getting that freedom they dreamed 30 years.
1.Jupiter and rahu in second house…. Jupiter at 13 and rahu at 25 is that called a conjunction? 2. Jupiter owns 4th and 7th house ! I cannot strengthen my jupiter coz it is my maraka planet 3. Rahu is exalted in D9 chart ! Who wins the conjunction? My rahu dasha is not that bad. It was like one adventure. Im running jupiter dasha from 2017 Does rahu plays a huge part in this dasha? Anyone with mediocre knowledge can share ur views.
🗝️🔑 🔑 Use the “value of the relative strengths, of Natal Jupiter placement” + “the Transit Point Degree of H/Sign” ie: Write down the Natal Placement, note the positive values energies associated with the placement Note the same for Transit placement, (make a list for each sign, for a quick reference guide) Jupiter is: Higher Mind, Higher Education, Higher Intellect, Guru, Justice, Benefic Energies, Guidance, “Protection”, Wisdom, “Positive Thought Energies + Gains” NOTE: The value of the Universal Laws, of the Divine Design, particularly the “Universal Law of Attraction” is Absolute” The “Universal Law of Attraction” trumps everything. You have the Power within, to Experience anything You Desire, and to affect a Positive Life Journey Experience. Period. The Astrology is defining “Available Energies” and their point of value (by House, Sign, aspects). But Reality is always based on Our Frequency of: “Thoughts + Feelings X Beliefs” = Reality, ie: our Frequency and it’s Attracting like Energies and Frequency. 🔑 Understand? Then Comprehend this and move to the State of Realization, Awakened is for the Learning, when it is Comprehended, we achieve the State of Realization. That’s the living the Journey through the Higher Mind and with Clear Understanding. Just do it, from your Thoughts, with alignment with your Soul. 🔑
Entered my Jupiter dasha and had 3 strokes back to back in the same yr. Have mars and saturn conjunct in 4th both trining Jupiter in 8th. Had stroke during Saturn antra dasha. Maybe Jupiter protected me from dying but honestly I would have rather just die if this is my karma. IDGAF about spirituality. I want wealth beauty and love. Im not interested in getting diseases and talking about stupid religion and philosophy with Gurus. Better to die and restart. Saturn comes after this dasha. Hopefully i just die already.
hi kapieel, i am in my jupiter mahadasha, but what i dont agree is rahu giving bad results in jupiter dasha. I explain, in my navamsa chart i have rahu in taurus in 5th house conjunct moon and mas, jupiter in the 6th house with sun. i agree that rahu is a malefic and conjunct jupiter it is not a so good placement in the d1 chart BUT in the D9 chart, it is very different… Could you explain or make a article? Thanks
can u please tell me as my jupiter mahadasha started in dec. i jupiter in 8th house along with mars in birth chart but in narayan bhav chalit it is in 7th house along with mars . my other planets in birth chart – sat, mercury, venus in 6th .ketu in 7th, moon and rahu in ascendent, sun in 5th,ketu in 7th. so will jupiter mahadasha be bad or good for me as u said in another article that we should see narayan bhav for mahadasha. please reply.
I have my Jupiter excelled in Cancer in 2nd house (early degrees) with Mutual ruler reception to 10th… My 10th house ruler is in 2nd house My 2nd house ruler is in 10th house. Does anyone know if this helps anything?? I also have a stellium of 5 planets in house 8th (opposing 2nd–including the sun there)
hi there bro.have been following all your articles and learning.appreciate your massive contribution to jyotish knowledge.Do continue! i am going through jupiter mahadasa (21 years to 37years- im 28 this year) i was born with jupiter debilited in 7th house capricorn but also with jupiter neecha bang. How would this play out for me with jupiter mahadasa, neecha bang and general 7th house debilitation? your response would be most welcomed:)
I had a stressful Rahu dasha that I was born into (my Jupiter dasha starts in december, so after I turn 18 in october) My jupiter is in virgo of the 11th house (I heard it gets debilitated in Virgo though) meanwhile my mercury is in 12th with sun in libra Im welcoming this dasha with so much love, since I’ve learned to love myself and lifes lessons that are given to me ❤
What if Jupiter is in the 9th house conjunct Pluto (0.02 virgo) — You said that planets in that degree are very weak. Pluto is 28.54 leo, but square sun/saturn in scorpio in 12th and trine moon in sagittarius in 1st, but Sag moon is conjunct Rahu (27/18). I am extremely spiritual and study astrology, tarot, but do have a lot of struggles. Also 9th house conjunction sextiles Neptune in libra @ 28.56. BTW – a conjunction is when two planets are within 10 degrees of each other, depending on orb
